    Best budget camping axe?

    The Husqvarna hatchet (the standard one with the heavier head) is good and cheap - can get it for about £25 from a few places.

    MORA Knife ?

    I don't think it's worth it. The built in steel is quite small. The sharpener on the sheath is (IMHO) too small. Plus, it's cheaper to buy a decent sized steel (you probably have one already). Could epoxy a more useful stone to the back of the sheath or better still carry a small one like a DC3.

    Do you carry a multitool in the woods?

    For 300gms, I'd take it. On canoe trips (obviously weight isn't such a big issue) I always take my Gerber Legend.
