Good job Tim. I really like the natural look too; I've done a couple of chisel covers like that, and they've taken on a nice patina. I'm very fond of the lace fastening as well; gives it a nice 'frontier' look.
I used a camp bed in a Vango Omega 350 for 4 or 5 nights last autumn. I was the only occupant of course! Height-wise was ok and I used a small rug underneath. The bottom of the tent looked fine afterwards. Hope that helps.
I've always had a soft spot for seaxes, and that one looks great! Love the idea of making it from scavenged material too. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.
Thanks for that Steve. I'm actually a subscriber to that guy's channel already; he's got some other good outdoor cookery ideas that people also might be interested in.
Here's another product worth looking into, if only for the description & video that goes with it (it's from Finland so there's postage involved & not worth putting in an order just for this; they do plenty of other interesting stuff though....)
This is the lid of my favourite billy can by far - the Tatonka 1.6 kettle. One side of the bracket that the lid handle clips into has separated. Can anyone suggest a way it could be fixed? I should add that I know nothing about metalwork.
Or is it time to buy a new one?
Thanks a lot.

Agreed. Much more practical for your application. If it was me I'd get a 4 person one because you have that much more room. Of course you can sit on them like a groundsheet if you like. I've got a couple from this lot: http://jdscomponents.co.uk/default.asp which I'm happy with.

We got a Robens Kobuk just recently. Here it is as at just now, warming our tent in Norfolk. We're very pleased with it so far. And those racks are very handy for setting pots and kettles aside and drying tea towels.
