I'm a lumberjack and I'm alright. The suspenders and a bra are for private use only:yelrotflm
Thanks for organising this Steve. Had a fantastic weekend. Oh, and thanks to Ali to anything she might have ordered off Twodogs (Chrissy pressie):D
Treated myself to a Stihl MS180 yesterday. Ordered some protective gear as well. I used to have an electric chainsaw but it seems to have disappeared. I use it for the occasional fire at home. When out and about in my van, it's surprising how much timber you see dumped in skips. Decided I could...
Had a word with (tinky) Pete re his kind offer to cook his famously good Mountain Man Breakfast! Yep he will do the honours, all we need are numbers to work out quantities and shared cost. Please copy and paste...

There is not a cut off date. If you do decide to attend, could you please add your name to the list on the North Wood meet thread.
It's a friendly gathering with plenty of people with far more experience than myself.
I am a regular at the North Wood meets. Our next meet is in a couple of weeks time ..27th -29th october.
If you want to attend the meet we would make you most welcome. It would also give you an idea of the options available. The 3 most common are 1 small tent, 2 sleeping open air under a tarp as...

A folding Barbie can be used as a fire box/pit.
I bought a stainless steel jobby from Aldi about a year ago. I use it on campsites where open fires are not allowed.
I have a Snugpak elite 3 which I really like. Supposedly comfort down to -5 , but they also do an elite 4. You could also consider a surplus artic sleeping bag or similar. Mat wise, it would be hard to beat the Neoair Xlite.
I already use a Sawyer mini to keep the weight down.
The thought of using it to rehydrate food is very appealing.
I do like my food, but it weighs too bl@@dy much:sigh:
Yes its the same one. Must be the last of the stock, so their selling them for £5 now.
I have added a link below.

I spent a couple of nights in my hammock last month. Not sure what the temperature got down to, probably around 10*C. The first night I didn't bother with my dd underblanket and although I wasn't cold, I wasn't 100% comfey. The second night I added my underblanket and perfect:sleeping:
I know...
can't commit ourselves at the moment. Alison's mum passed away a week ago but the funeral isn't until the 29th.
I think she is keen to get away for the weekend as it might aid in the healing process. Woods always seem such peaceful places close to nature.
Anyway, hope to see you there.
Greg & Alison
