    Found it

Love the van! I thought about getting one but decided my Skoda fabia estate being of a similar size would ‘do’. I consequently took out all the seats and made a 2x1 timber frame that serves two purposes; 1, mainly for my ladder which just fits and is tied down with dinghy line. 2, a bed just in...

    Best chicken coop ever?

What’s the box and hook over the portcullis door? Is this an automated opener. My wife opens up at 05.00 every day. Her clock doesn’t change nor do the hens clocks or clucks:kiss: S

    Best chicken coop ever?

In the past I made kit form/flat pack units. If they were softwood they were transported to the local treatment plant and placed in their vat. The result was all joints being fully treated. Some garden furniture so preserved is now 40 years old. And would you believe made from Sycamore! Top...

    Best chicken coop ever?

We have two houses v similar to the one in your pic but we made stands for them which were used when we raised Muscovy ducks. The stands are now used as a carrot bed and a cold frame. The houses came from a lady who made superb poultry buildings but went to the wall a few years back which was a...

    Tiny Monocular / Telescope.

I have looked at the Plastimo item and there are a huge number of these monoculars produced under different manufacturers names. The other one is made by Minox and I am very tempted with this monocular but my old Monk 7 x 50 Argonaut bins are still very serviceable although bulky. S

    Best Trangia/Alcohol Stove Fuel

Could be the scenario re the faithful Origo stove no longer being produced. This was, I have been told, due to a serious fire when an Origo stove was being filled when still lit….. S

    Best chicken coop ever?

There were plans available a while ago showing how to build a chicken house using two 8’x4’ plywood sheets. Fifteen years ago I worked on building a chicken house using this method. This is still a good chicken house although the original Onduline roof has been replaced with wriggly tin. We...

    Best Trangia/Alcohol Stove Fuel

I used meths when travelling on my old Honda m cycle. That was a whole years worth. 20 years back one could buy ‘denatured alcohol’ so I bought 25 litres. There was then a rush so the goal posts that enabled folk to buy were moved much, much higher. I still have the drum and it has 15 litres...

    I'm after a pot..

I have a SS bowl with a handle. Tatonka make one and so do others so fairly generic now. I had a SS specialist welder re fix the handle on mine some 20 years ago as that part was carp. It is my go to all multi purpose cooking pot. I did buy a SS small saucepan recently for cooking dinghy...

    Getting in training for LDFP

Daughter in law has just quit her job to concentrate on travelling this trail. https://www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au/ We are still slightly dazed at the news but she is an experienced hiker. East Anglia has some great walks and it is quite flat here. Start with small steps. Good luck. S

    What are you growing?

My wife has bought some purpose made small cloches in our polytunnel which has resulted in some fantastic lettuces. Beats the old 5 litre squash containers. These were good but not quite big enough. S

    Freedom days

Thanks for this little snippet. I am still mending so no bikey adventures just yet. My faithful old bike is still resting in the shed for now. I know she’s there waiting, as ever, as she has done for the past 32 years. She looks very similar except that the engine sticks out both sides:finger: S
