    Weather to come.......

Well it's certainly wet! The river at 3pm was about to overtop the banks on the way to tiverton. Roads are tricky with standing water covering the lanes from bank to bank, necessitating straddling the white line whenever possible and it's still absolutly pelting down. If m and I hadn't gone...

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

Too cloudy here, also being in a valley that is east west orientated, no northern horizon to speak of,just a steep high wooded hill , little chance here. But if I had a car and could get out on the tops, with a clear sky, I'm sure it would be fantastic. Hope some of you are lucky enough to see...

Is "preparedness" a state of mind?

    Winter is coming.

I've unblocked the drain at the bottom of my road. There has been a car parked over it for a few days, and the leaves gathered underneath blocking it and causing a bit of a lake at the bottom of the hill. Today the car was gone, so I rushed home to get my rake and broom and managed to clear the...

    Winter blues.

Well, my last post talked of St John's wort, and trying to find an alternative. I'm told saffron is the thing...Well that's me out. It's far too expensive. Incidently I'm have perked up since I put up this thread. It was an awful day (lights on at midday )and I just felt " meh " Couldn't...

My local charity shop came up with two beauties today. A pure wool mammapacha long line cardie for £25 , brand new, and worn once, ( normaly about £180 ) and a brand new unused woodgas stove with a large bag of wood pellets and wax card firelighters for £8.00. Both on my want list since before...

    Winter blues.

Camomile tea, or any of the herbal sleepy,/nighttime teas, with real honey instead of sugar if you need to sweeten are far gentler on your body than drugs of any sort, plus you can grow your own and the cost is then practically nothing. I used to use St John's wort herbal tablets for mood...

    Winter blues.

Does anyone suffer from winter blues? I usualy get a bit fed up around Xmas and new year, longing for the warmer weather to arrive. This year has started early, I'm already feeling it. The weather has been dank dark and wet for days, I can't get on with things I want to in the garden as its so...

    Hennessy

What insulation did you use? I always came off a mat, and had to stuff clothes and extra blankets down the sides to keep warm in my old hennessy(bottom entry) I never had an undisturbed night. Since I've had my dd set up, I sleep like a baby, the underquilt makes such a difference to my...

What wildlife did you spot today?

Couldn't see, as it was on the other side of my little valley in the woods, but heard a couple of stags bolving madly this afternoon. The sound realy does echo around here. Been stood outside for a few mins this evening, I can see pipistrelle flying around the streetlamps, and hear owls and...

    Winter is coming.

Well, I'd say for me it's been a typical autumnal day. Sunshine and showers, a bit chilly, but not realy cold, and a little blustery now and then. Quite invigorating and joyful really. It's put a smile on my face anyway, tho there are plenty of huddled miserables out there complaining its an...

    Winter is coming.

Quite a distance from the channel. It's gone grey and murky now, a few drops of rain, but nothing significant at the moment. I now have my new wellies, and gortex coat, so if I have to go out, no worries. I've been thinking back to my younger years and definatly seen worse weather than I'm...

    Winter is coming.

What storm? Woke to dry roads, and sunshine. Trees are still and nothing seems to have happened at all. I'm going to stop listening to the storm fearmongers and just get on with daily life. Storm Benjamin was a total washout!
