We have buzzards, sparrowhawks, kestrels, marsh harriers & 3 types of owl. None have attacked a chicken (yet). I'm more concerned by the larger corvids when we have 50 or 60 chicks in the enclosure. I suspect 5kg cockerels act as a deterrent.

I've got a USB rechargeable keyring torch in black or one that takes a single AAA battery. Both are new in box. Either take your fancy?

It may seem prosaic & less fun than knives, but if you are ever going to grow anything or raise any kind of livestock, you are going to need a barrow.
A good one is a joy to use.
A bad one is wheeled misery.
Probably over 20 years old Mark, I've looked for another without success. It's a dinky wee thing but razor sharp. Fiona dresses out a bird in just a few minutes with it
