Licensing for Knife Sellers or Importers

I expect criminals will carry on as normal, buying them from the ever growing black market or stealing them. My first thought when I read through the consultation was would someone who makes a mistake selling knife be treated worse than someone who shoplifts one or nicks one in a burglary?

Licensing for Knife Sellers or Importers

I agree with you but I expect it will be brought in, ignoring the majority of replies just like the other consultations. By private sellers I mean individuals, not businesses. As I read it, if I wanted to sell or even give away something like an old billhook I would need to be registered and...

Licensing for Knife Sellers or Importers

It looks like it's doing the ground work for a knife licencing system. I wonder what small scale private sellers will do, I expect the cost for a licence will not be cheap.

When in need of small shelf.....

You might not live long in Finland! Although it will depend how far it is away from water, and if you can touch it whilst in or near water. I've seen worse.

    Reynoutria japonica - Japanese Knotweed

Do you know where the JKW has come from? I know there are strict laws on the spreading of it but in my experience no one down here seems to either be aware or care about that. If it's coming in from a neighbouring property it could be very hard to do much. If a rental property then you may...

Base camp water filters, advice needed.

Pumping is fairly easy, it is heavy though when full. You can fill it from something of course, but it is still heavy to move about.

Base camp water filters, advice needed.

Does it need to be gravity? We've used a LifeSaver Cube, which requires pumping. Ours provides our water for hot drinks and water and has been used every day for over a year and is still going strong. (A small piece of plastic tube on the tap makes it easier to use).

GMail will use your data to train AI (ie. read all your private emails)

And there was/is a fair bit of fraud on cheques. I guess a large percentage of current fraud and scams is down to basic crime, theft, forgery etc. But again that doesn't mean we should ignore more modern stuff, especially when many of us live more digitally. Having tried to get personal data...

    Open question - Financial

The BBC ran this on their front page a couple of days ago. Not the best way to keep a secret. Why has the price of silver hit a record high? - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c62vn22523xo

Again I don't understand your point. Yes data is stolen, sold etc, but risks can be reduced and that is the point of the OP. You can get through any front door but that doesn't stop many people locking it and taking extra precautions - each reducing risk of someone breaking in. Some may not...

GMail will use your data to train AI (ie. read all your private emails)

Firstly, it's worth noting the link in the original post has been updated. I'm not sure of the 'discussion' around AI, I tend to find it's still a much misused term a bit like tagging the word smart on the front of something that isn't really smart. The problem raised in the original post was...

Thank you. I'm aware of the shortcomings of review sites and was suspicious of the bad reviews, but other VPNs seemed to do better. I've decided to try Proton anyway and the speed seems fine so far.

I've been looking at Proton VPN and notice the Trust Pilot reviews are very bad. Reading through many seem to be down to the speeds on the free service. Even so, there's complaints about the paid service. Now we get very slow internet speeds so I assume I wouldn't notice a slower speed? Those...

    Water outages

It seemed to he a simple matter of uploading the documents early, using a date based name that was very easy to guess and not locking the folder. Something even the most basically IT literate person should have known not to do. Something more relevant is the fiasco with the EA and the fly...
