    Swedish Fire Log

The ones that I’ve used were Scots pine. Edited to add - A log!!!! 350 x 500mm Three vertical cuts to near the bottom making six segments joined at the base. Chain saw required. Hollow a shallow bowl in the top. It’s easiest to get kindling going well in a separate fire bowl of some sort...

    WHAT DID YOU MAKE TODAY?

I used Dropbox before I became a member. Still do for video. Be careful though. The link above is for the free “Basic”version and it really is free. But The site has tripwires to get you to pay for an upgrade. It’s not a problem, there are many worse.

    4000?

@oldtimer Not bad! As the man says in the song: “67% is adequate.”

    4000?

Oh @Broch n = 1 ≠ tradition :lmao: I believe there is an old bushcraft saw that says: “One fried squirrel does not a Bushmoot make.”

    4000?

Indeed John. If my last ten posts received eight reactions was it: Eight reactions to one out of ten. One reaction to eight out of ten - And was it from one person or from eight? (Or anything in between) Perhaps a fringe dwelling, adequist, not quite bushcrafter - doesn’t always say the right...

    4000?

4000 posts? 4000 posts? I’m not even a real bushcrafter! I don’t know enough for 4000 posts - but thinking about it that has never stopped me from writing about anything. :) May I use #4001 just to say a big Thank You to all here who let me tag along. Pat.

Licensing for Knife Sellers or Importers

Indeed. Here’s one that I was taught as part of an Understanding Statistics module: There was at that time, a correlation to two decimal places, between incidences of hay fever - as it was then called - in the Southern counties and the number of passengers disembarking from the channel ferries...

Licensing for Knife Sellers or Importers

I think it’s well worth wrapping up this thread. There is no useful information coming from it. I’m not a mod, I’m just bored. Edited to add: @Kiri Thanks for bringing this potential legislation to our attention. Sorry it’s degenerated. Pat.

Before they closed the factory, sugar beet provided a lot of the cover for local shoots here. So Kale?

Pump Drill and Bear comes clean

Sorry Tengu, I can’t help it if my original thinking reflects the work of classical writers.

Pump Drill and Bear comes clean

…… or “item of religious significance.” How do you know that Markus et Sparticus weren’t trading them as “multi-purpose, finest kind rocks with holes in.” Perforated Petrae for all occasions.

    What did you buy today?

Not bought, I was given this last night. Three little led’s and small alkaline battery in the head end. (Half the length of an AAA but 6 volt. Readily available.)* Both ends are magnetic but not enough to hold up the torch - maybe pick up pins etc. Looked useful when I was given it. Not...

    Bug out coffee

I’m enjoying mine right now as I type but in the early days (thirty years ago) it took a few goes to get the “press” right. There is a vent hole in the vertical handle so that suction doesn’t jam it. If you push suddenly that could let grounds through but it doesn’t happen. I’m surprised that...

    Bug out coffee

Smart Cafe were the original makers and Zylis took over. You often see the names used interchangeably. I have an original Smart Cafe and several Zylis. They changed the materials. The SC scraper ring was much more rigid than the Z. This required an internal profile change so the plungers are...

Where can I get a long digging hoe?

That’s a Chillington hoe or something so similar that it makes no difference. There are shield shaped blades and three tine fork versions.
