    Journeys into Leathercraft….

Made something for myself tonight, an adaptor so that my 58 pattern compass pouch can hang from a belt (it doesn’t work so well using the original single metal loop with a normal belt) What the rear fixing is like, kinda works on my 2 inch belt but isn’t satisfactory so I tended to just carry...

    Journeys into Leathercraft….

Randomly sold a few things via eBay now. Couple of valet trays and a belt, have made a couple now, just finished up another for a friend. Made from English oak bark tanned bridle leather, hand sewn. Quite pleased with my saddle stitching now, I can consistently lay the stitch correctly.

Bushcraft and homesteading skills in WW3

Yep, and none of those would be fun! Don’t forget, an explosion could be hundreds of miles away - or even thousands of- you won’t be affected by blast but fallout is a huge risk days later if you are in the ‘path’ You can evacuate ‘sideways’ to avoid the plume but might have to go some...

Bushcraft and homesteading skills in WW3

I doubt they would have returned to normal within 2 weeks, fallen significantly yes, but not back to normal. Some areas would be quite clean (I.e hard surfaces) where wind and rain would have washed the fallout away, but other areas (ditches, drains, grassed areas etc) would be significantly...

    Buschcraft, fishing and PTSD

100% I have complex PTSD, anxiety and , I hold down a good job but I find bushcraft and being outside in a nature a wonderful release and reset and calms my over-active mind and prevents me spiralling. I recommend it. The good thing is you can match you activity to your mind, want to just sit in...

    Journeys into Leathercraft….

My brother gifted me a George Barnsley round head knife for Christmas, so I whipped up a sheath for it to stop it cutting my fingers off! Should have done a wider strap so the popper doesn’t look so huge Lovely thing to use, it’s so much nicer than a craft knife

    Chris's trying out leatherwork thread

They are super. I also use J wood for leather and am going to try ordering from aa crack in the new year aswell One thing I would say is when you bevel the edges make sure your beveller is freshly stripped and super sharp as it’s soft leather it can wrinkle if the blade drags at all

You wait until you start wearing cotton gloves as your finger sweat marks the leather lol

Gorgeous leather, it’s my go to for wallets and purses etc - it patinas beautifully! Where did you buy it from? I can recommend leather4craft down on the south coast - they do online and in person etc

    Heart attack or other illness

I haven’t read the whole thread, but once you are treated and have progressed through cardiac rehab there is no reason why you wouldn’t be able to return to bushcraft type activities in future, at a level that only you will know based on how you actually feel when you are properly recovered.
