    Sleeping Bag Suggestion - Down.

Sorry. didn't read your post clearly the first time (Been a very long day) As you rightly say, the bit of the bag you lay on is compressed so a bit superfluous. As a restless sleeper, I find quilts draughty in cold temperatures. I really like the concept of quilts in the winter, The EE Enigma...

    Sleeping Bag Suggestion - Down.

Have been down the perfect sleep system rabbit hole over the past couple of years. Bought an Enlightened Equipment Enigma quilt but found I moved about too much to keep the drafts out so sold it on. (incredibly warm & a thing of beauty though) Bought a secondhand Mountain Equipment Lightline...

    What did you buy today?

@TeeDee - Good plan, worth spending money on a decent battery & glowplugs with the Delicas too. When I bought mine, they had fitted the wrong plugs, (12v instead of 6v - weird design idea on L300) First cold day, my van looked like one of the Red Arrows (but a lot lower & slower!!) as I drove...

Camper Conversion - Basic Layout options.

Met a guy a few years ago camped up with a VW panel van. All he had done was built a 3 foot wide by 2 foot high box on one side of the van. Comfy bed/sofa, masses of storage in the box & space for his bike & canoe by the side of it. He had been drifting around Scotland for a couple of months...

Camper Conversion - Basic Layout options.

I never bothered to modify my old Delica other than removing one of the middle captains seats & adding some moveable storage boxes that fitted between the remaining mid-seat & the rear bench seat. I used one of those rectangular cookers that you get from Halfords & a few basics. All worked...

    4x4 camper

Bongo has the advantage of the pop up roof so would make an easier conventional conversion. Delica is based on Pajero - so a proper 4x4. I went for the L300 Delica as it was more agricultural, robust, very low-tech & relatively easy to fix (Was great to travel with a tool box & spares again!)...

Bit of Delica porn to whet your appetite. Taken on Berneray & South Uist when I did a trip to the Outer Hebrides.
