    Pre Colombian racket

There will always be criminals out there, and I've kinda got used to that. What bothers me more than criminals openly breaking the law (for example on eBay, or on Amazon's Website) is the response by the authorities when it's brought to their attention. Nottingham Fraud Squad told me they...

Yes, a tough question to answer. Probably the Victorinox Fieldmaster at the moment.

    Parallel Firelay Advice Needed

Crikey, you worry too much. The main thing is to have more fuel available than you think you'll ever need, and keep it all sheltered from rain and snow. I personally think sleeping near a fire is unnecessarily risky for the reasons Limaed gives. I much prefer hot water bottles in my sleeping...

    Stuff sack size query

If it's urgent you could get by just with a length or two of paracord.

    Error 503..

I've only seen the "guru meditation" thing when Virtualbox gets in a mess with one of its virtual machines. I don't know why Tony's service provider would need to give him his service from a virtual machine but I can imagine that it could offer the hosted sites better security from each other...

    Fallkniven F1 opinions

I believe the Mora is 12c27 and there's nothing wrong with that. Almost all the Victorinox and EKA/Nordic blades (at least a dozen) I have are the same steel. 12c27 is designed for razor blades, so you should be able to get a razor sharp edge on it fairly easily if the blade hasn't been abused...

    Paracord tangke free storage

Network cables are twisted pair, paracord is braided outer - totally different animals. I rarely carry long lengths of cord, mostly a few bits about five to eight metres, ten metres probably at most. I can always join a couple of lengths with a Carrick bend if I need longer. If they aren't...

Diced, fried in onions, and lashings of tikka masala sauce. Just about to start cooking it now. :)

Input on putting together a first kit bag

Nah, give over. There's a couple of people who spend more time at the keyboard than they do in a bivvy, that's all. And you might be the sensitive type? :)

    Not my most successful weekend....

Sorry to hear about the shoulder John. Everything else is all in a day's work for a bushcrafter though, isn't it? :) You'll have to have a word with Big Si about the 'Ged-o-matic'. :) I think somebody's nicked it now though. :(

    Scam alert.

They probably did that deliberately. They know that you will read it as 'Paypal' even though that's not what it says, but they also know that my mail filters will reject any mail that says anything like "dear paypal" or "paypal customer". What they apparently don't know is that ny mail filters...

    Jacket advice

I think all these high tech jackets are over-rated. My experience is that they're OK for a while and then they leak where they get most flexing - neck, shoulders and elbows. They're great if you wear them under a poncho and don't exert yourself too much but it gets a bit warm if you're doing...

Input on putting together a first kit bag

SWMBO makes lots of drawstring bags, various sizes, mostly from scraps of fabric from 'real' projects. Very handy, I use them for all sorts of things. Anything from ones the size of a phone for, er, my phone, to ones the size of a pillowcase for stowing a sleeping bag uncompressed when not in...
