Floating hands definitely can work well.
I find it takes a bit to get my head around fingers facing up or down and which hand moves forward and which back!
Once sorted though i agree it is a good technique to know.
It is a bit more complicated and so for someone just learning hand drill is...
I will sometimes use the string method as well. Similar to John, clove hitch at the top with string hanging down 4-6 inches either side.
This is a quick google search result with a similar set up
Well done.
There's nothing quite like that feeling..:encourage:
Further refining. When blowing the ember into flame hold the bundle 6 inches or so away from you. The moisture in the breath can stifle an ember if it's too close.
Well done though
My limited experience of braided belts is the tendency to stretch as the 'knots' settle.
Another option, if you want the utility belt type idea is to get a normal belt and tape some items to the inside.

Gloves - just the back of the hand

Best of luck
Whilst these wont win any awards for the best tasting meal ever! they aren't bad. Just not exciting...

Good shelf life and reasonable price.
We've spent half the last 12 months travelling Europe, including places like Albania and Bosnia.
I was amazed just how many people and countries used English. I commented to one Bosnian guy in his 30's how good his English was. 'we've been learning it since we were 3' was his reply.
