    Plug & Play Solar

It does look like it's getting a lot easier to set up - might be a bad thing. I wonder if we'll be seeing a few house fires soon....

Where can I get a long digging hoe?

I've never used one but would a terrex spade be of any use?

    Cooking Over Fire - Books

Hhhhhmm, I have cook on the wild side somewhere. That's pickled my noodle as to where it might be...... Going to have to go searching.....

    Positive news

Pop to Buckinghamshire - we have hundreds. It's the norm to see multiples every day (and I still enjoy watching them!!)

Where can I get a long digging hoe?

Maybe just hunt facebook marketplace / ebay for old mattocks. I think I have an old mattock that fits that description somewhere. Maybe not the long enough handle but then you could make a longer handle. Personally I've switched to the azadaza for my digging with a view that lots of lighter...

    Pancake Day

I decided to make mine as mini pancakes so I could keep mine rolling while I was cooking everyone else's in the regular sized pan. Works well - more edge area for that crispy goodness!!

    Worst.Job.Ever.

Specific task? Unblocking urinals. Urine crystalises in the pipework, solidifying into a big rock. Essentially athersclerosis of the plumbing. Dismantle and chip it out but the smell is so sharply acrid that sits in the back of your nostrils all day.

Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

Yep. A little scrape of marmite added into the hot water that's used to hydrate the cous cous, stirred through as it thins in the heat.

Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

My lazy lunch is a tin of sardines or mackerel, some cous cous and a bit of marmite. All sat in a drawer at work so no excuse not to have something! Sounds a bit odd but it suits me.

    What did you buy today?

I've just retired a battered hot ice. Didn't think to look for a replacement. Shame!

    Rats

Well I've got a couple of A24s on the way. To be honest, I doubt they'll work as rats are just too clever / suspicious but I have a need to up the pressure for a while...

    Open question - Financial

The one difference is that this is all the slow accumulation of saved waste over a few years so is basically free money.

    Open question - Financial

I'll probably wait a little while but I could do with the space! Just did a rough weigh up - 25kg of bare bright, 15 of insulated, 4 of dirty pipe, 6 of clean pipe. There's about ten lead acid batteries to go too. Always a bit more to add to the pile though....

    Whittling knife recommendations

It's this one in here: Not the best picture but the handle is willow burl at the front, yew at the back and some bits of brass in there too.

    Whittling knife recommendations

I think my favourite is a frosts blade that's fairly similar to a 120 but with a more interesting handle. It definitely makes a difference using something that feels nicer. I'll dig a picture out!

    Open question - Financial

Probably depends on where you're selling. Scrap yard might be a bit suspicious that it's not just copper throughout. Then theres the cost of processing your own down. I've got a fair weight to weigh in at the moment. Should I be holding off???

    Body Warmer?

I wear one most days. Duck down in all of them though. Some thinner, some thicker. I did get given one with some poor synthetic filling and it never got used. I like a good warm core but less worried about arms and legs - shorts all year too and in just a t-shirt today with pouring weather...

When to straighten a stick to make into a walking stick?

Yes - all of those! The little and often is a good one though.

I don't know. I did wonder if it might be a generational thing - I know of mixi but it's not particularly mentioned in conversation is it. That's why I thought a lot of younger folk wouldn't know of it but also wouldn't be keen on rabbit.
