Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

I almost opened another can of fish a bit before noon today, but decided on a can of duck gizzards, instead. I fried a small onion in duck fat, then added the gizzards to the pan to warm them.

Anyone a fan of tinned fish?

I had a tin of Saupiquet brand mackerel in mustard sauce today. Nice, meaty fish (two decent sized pieces); ok sauce, a little on the sweet side and the mustard wasn't as strong as I would have liked.

    What did you buy today?

I managed to win a second hand lens on eBay: a Zodiak-8 30mm f/3.5 fisheye lens in Pentacon 6 mount. I have an adapter on order from Ukraine to fit this to my Mamiya 645. Under €200 including shipping from Germany, when all the others are "buy it now" for closer to €300.

    Forgotten Snacks

Smiths revived the Salt'n'Shake crisps back in the 1980s. I don't remember how long the revival lasted, but there's apparently another revival going on now, and the good people of Essex are worried about the safety of the little packet of salt...

    Spring anyone ?

Spring is well under way, here; has been for a few weeks. Horse chestnut trees have finished the sticky bud stage and the leaves are unfolding. The sycomore and field maples have young leaves, various prunus varieties are in full bloom. Buds are still small on the grapevines. Grape...

    Barlow knife ?

Of the five knives that are in the picture that I posted yesterday, all have been EDC from time to time. I bought he stag handled one when I was on a trip back to Sheffield, flying with only a cabin bag, so couldn't take a pocket knife with me. That one stayed for several years at my mum's...

    Going green broke my fridge!

This makes me think that the ridges moulded into the inside of the fridge are still ok... I'd get pieces of aluminium bar, perhaps 3mm thick and about 12mm to 20mm wide, put those side to side and then put the glass shelves resting on the bars.

    Barlow knife ?

Nice enough as they are, neither of those are proper Barlow pattern knives, though.

    Barlow knife ?

Well, it took an couple of extra days for me to lay hands on them, but here is a quick snap of them. Maybe if the weather improves I'll get some better pictures under natural light towards the end of this week, beginning of next. From top to bottom: - Camillus with brass bolster and plastic...

    What has happened to Etsy?

I occasionally buy through Etsy, and it's always been good. But then again, I've only ever bought things that are either one-off or small production runs, from Canada, Poland, Serbia, Ukraine or the UK. My most recent purchase was a шајкача, and that's going back more than six months...

    Barlow knife ?

I've got a two or three or maybe four. I think that two are by Trevor Albert, one a Wostenholm IXL and if I have a fourth it will be an American thing like Camillus. I'll try to dig them out and take some photos today or tomorrow.
