    Hard Lemon Soda.

Try looking up Kilju. Typically made from ordinary granulated sugar, a few raisins or sultanas per litre and often a teabag per gallon demijohn. Use a suitable strain of yeast and you can ferment out all the sugar and get up to 14% to 18% alcohol. I used to brew my own wine and beer; I made my...

Tengu Versus Highland Castles (or anything else, for that matter)

I'm a bit disappointed that there's not the possibility of going full-on living history, living in a roundhouse for the season. If you decide on a small campervan, it's worth considering that insurance can be less expensive than a car or panel van...

Full steam ahead! Again, at first dam at Rivelin this morning.

    Your picture of the day...

Had a walk up to first dam at Rivelin this morning with mum. Well, she sat on a bench for a rest at the bridge at the bottom of Hollins Lane while I walked up to first dam. I took a few photos of the ducks and moorhens. This was a bold moorhen; she came very close to me, if I'd had any food for...

    W W U do?

Personally, I couldn't bring myself to cut up a perfectly usable blade like that, but I'd be quite prepared to put a new handle on it or reshape the existing handle. Have you tested it for being stainless (which I very much doubt) or tried an etch to bring out the grain to see if it's shear steel?

    Horn spoons

Any sizes? Or what's the smallest you could make use of? I don't want to waste postage on bits that you'd find too small.

    Horn spoons

I'd love a couple of those horn spoons, but in struggling to find something that I could offer in exchange. You mention that you're looking out for leather bits... Are these for the "entry tokens" or other uses? What size pieces do you want?

    Oaks and oaks ...

You could get some litmus paper and measure the acidity of the soil, if you think that this is the problem. But it is a common problem under a mature oak tree because the tree shades the soil and its spreading, shallow roots guzzle up any rain, creating a dry, dark environment. Apparently, the...

    What did you buy today?

A couple of days ago I ordered a second-hand Samyang 8mm fisheye lens from CEX. It was delivered about half an hour ago... Its designed for APS-C sensors, and on a full-frame camera the image is a bit cropped, but I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

    What has happened to Etsy?

Whenever I see the word "genuine", "authentic" or "professional" stuck on the name of an item, I think "it's a trap" (to use the words of Admiral Akbar).

    What did you buy today?

Oh, so many things! For my Mamiya 645 Pro, I picked up a couple of shoulder strap connectors that I'd commissioned from a saddler. Then in the afternoon I bought a n°3 macro ring, a cable release adapter, X2 teleconverter, a lens case and a cable. Then I went to Atkinsons and bought a couple...

    Modifying Solo Pot

I had imagined that this might have been what you meant. Simple is elegant.

I don't know what you mean by that. Can you post a drawing or a photo, or post a link to a picture showing that?

    What did you buy today?

Didn't go further than the back garden, hanging out clothes to dry, then bringing them in because of hail and rain, then hanging then out again... But when my Pentacon 6 to canon ef adapter was delivered, I discovered that the lens that I recently bought is *not* a P6 mount, but what I now...

    A.I Created images and video

I'd love to get one of those! Searching for one, I stumbled upon an article claiming that "the best AI tools stopped adding extra fingers years ago". https://www.bbc.co.uk/future/article/20260324-i-tried-to-prove-im-not-an-ai-deepfake
