    What did you buy today?

You wouldn't believe it, I've had people in Facebook groups before, comment on my photo that my backpack is too bright/'hardly blending in with my surroundings'!

    What did you buy today?

Just be warned, it can get addicting trying to find bargains. I also bought an L.L.Bean made in USA Polartec hooded fleece. This one will be for proper use out walking or dogsbodying etc. The Karrimor I bought for general wearing/keeping nice. I'm really looking forward to getting this L.L.Bean.

    Need a new Bivi Bag!

I have wondered if it was simply breathability, but I'm 90% certain water was getting in. The seams need re-doing, I think what I will inevitably end up doing is buying a new one. I do have a second BA bivi of equal age, I'm going to dig that one out and have a look at it, too.

    Need a new Bivi Bag!

That is good to hear re. new army bivi bags, I have heard mixed reviews about them. I don't know whether to but seam tape or if it's more economical to just put that money towards a new one. I'm guessing a new one would make sense. This older one won't go to waste, I will use the material to...

    What did you buy today?

I've been scouring eBay and Vinted for bargain fleeces and picked up this Karrimor K2 pile fleece for about £12 posted. It's over 20 years old and the guy who I bought it from said he has only worn it a few times and if I picked this up in a shop I would believe it was brand new.

    Need a new Bivi Bag!

After drying out the bivi, I hung the bivi up in a way that I could create pool of water in a part of the fabric. That was Sunday evening and it's still there now and no water has passed through! A couple of things I've considered.. the seams taping has seen better days, not sure how much rain...

    Need a new Bivi Bag!

Thank you Pattree, I stayed warm but temperatures still way above freezing. My bivi setup is a work in progress. I've just remembered the book of the bivy which I've been meaning to get and read for years, I think I'm going to have a look for it.

    Need a new Bivi Bag!

Yes, and there is something absolutely magical about being out in the open elements. Partly getting away from the norm, immersing yourself in nature, the feel and sound of the rain, the cold wind on your face, and partly the both mental and physical challenge of putting yourself in a slightly...

    Need a new Bivi Bag!

I thought I had seen others say something similar before! Not sure what to go for, civilian bivis are generally much lighter wait aimed for camping/hiking. I need heavy duty for bodying. I'm often positioned in places which offer a challenging find for the dog and handler which include being...

    Need a new Bivi Bag!

I was out on the side of a hill for 7 hours yesterday dogsbodying in my (non hooped) bivi and found out it's no longer waterproof (I got soaked). So I need a new bivi bag. It must be very heavy duty. Do I just go for a brand new British army bivi bag for £50~? What is the quality like these...

    What did you buy today?

First impressions: The material is thicker than I thought it was going to be, nice surprise, I was worried it would be lightweight not very durable, it's not. I was in two minds over what size as 95% of the time I walk solo so a 2 made more sense but then on the other hand I want it to be...

Hooped bivvies - what's the point?

A self inflating mat would also be a great option as they are also usually quite thin.

Hooped bivvies - what's the point?

Regarding inflatable mats, I've used an Oex Flux 5 (relatively thin as far as mats go) inside my hooped bivi and it was absolutely fine, I even read a book in there. Underneath I use a Multimat Expedition Extreme 12L, the best closed cell foam on the market that I have come across in terms of...

Hooped bivvies - what's the point?

I've had my Dutch Army out a couple of times in light rain with zero issues, and once in moderately heavy persistent rain which was dogsbodying last weekend as in my post above. When I was setup, very poorly, behind the gorse bush, on a steep incline, I had some pooling of water at the head...

Hooped bivvies - what's the point?

Fun. That's the only thing I can come up with :lmao: My Dutch Army Hooped Bivi is far less practical than my Hilleberg Akto, and only 200g lighter, and that's if I don't also take a tarp, which I would want if it was raining. I do still use it occasionally, though, just for fun. Actually, I...

Thank you mate, your last point is something that I have always said was either poorly explained in school, or not at all, the different opportunities and jobs that are available. I still don't know now.

Just an update.. I'm half way through my second week of the Business and Law access module, actually I've today completed the second week (unit 2). I am glad that I took the access module, it's been a nice ease back in to education. So far it's been quite heavily targeted towards 'learning...

I've bought some snow pegs, and I'm hoping we get enough snow this year to use them!
