I found an axe head. Need advice. Pic heavy.

Same applies as before... Slowly cover it back up and don't mention it... Just kidding... I think. This is what I think it'll end being for. Just random stuff in the garden... Especially old roots when digging. Though a sharp spade does a good job unless it's something really thick. Maybe if I...

    Simplified Swedish Fire Torch

That looks interesting. I still want to try a standard one too. Just not had (made) the opportunity.

I found an axe head. Need advice. Pic heavy.

Small update, for anyone who's interested . Here it is after 24 hours in vinegar and a quick scrub with a scouring pad. It's what I had on hand at home and am actually surprised how well that worked. There are still a few spots inside a few of the pitts, but I think a bit of elbow grease will...

I found an axe head. Need advice. Pic heavy.

You know with the difficulty of getting rentals here, if I found something like that, I'd quietly cover it up again and never mention it.

I found an axe head. Need advice. Pic heavy.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I'll give it a go. Just going to get the rest of the rust off. I don't think there any cracks in this. No need to apologize. You're right in many ways. As far as axes go it's not worth anything. But if it still has life in it, it's just the cost of a handle and...

I found an axe head. Need advice. Pic heavy.

I was digging up some lawn to make a flower bed in the garden when I hit something hard. A hatchet head. I know it's not an ancient artifact by the broken fiberglass in the eye. I cleaned it up with a wire brush on the drill and removed the remaining handle. Now, I'm trying to decide whether I...

Pathfinder way of securing a ridge line

Curious what you all think of this. I like what he's done, but at the same time won't be doing it myself... Mostly just because it's not as tidy to pack (I know that's a silly reason, but it would annoy me, so I'd rather tie the knots).

    Mil-Tec canteen cup lid

Thank you both. Firstly, I'm sure it's a copy. But seems okay. I've never had another one so can't compare. Didn't think of the pie dish thing. That's probably the way to go. I'll just do that as the easiest solution. SOF website?

    Mil-Tec canteen cup lid

I've been gifted a Mil-Tec bottle with a canteen cup. Can someone point me in the right direction to get a lid that fits? I've never really been interested in this type of container before, so don't know anything about them except that they're all different sizes. P.S. upon searching I found...

What about a Marttiini Carbon Lapp 240?

Pathfinder way of securing a ridge line

I don't actually like Dave's second version that much with the prusik. I do like the Aussie one though and learned and practiced it this weekend. I like it a lot. He also has a short showing ways of strengthening that knot. I don't like the bowline that much on the first end either. I honestly...

Handy securing knot for rolled stuff

I just tried this third one to hold my mess kit together. Works brilliantly also. I think the Canadian jam knot is now officially dead to me

    Wanted Camillus 8.5" Bush Crafter

https://www.blades.co.uk/product/camillus-8-5-bush-crafter-fixed-blade-knife-19095/ Is this the one? A bit pricey for what it is.

Handy securing knot for rolled stuff

I saw it this on coalcracker too and have tried it out with a few things. I like it a lot. I've also started using it with garden twine to hold rolled of fleece and stick bundles. I was using that knot, but am replacing it with this one as I retie things, because it's easier... Not that the jam...

    Shipping knives to Ireland ?

Yeah it's a pity. Between that and the possible customs it's not easy (or cheap) getting stuff into Ireland from outside the EU. Why clear your collection though? Were you holding onto stuff as an investment? Just curious

Withdrawn Wanted - trade knife in stainless steel

Sorry. I misread those Tod Cutler knives. They're carbon.

Withdrawn Wanted - trade knife in stainless steel

Tough request. The closest I can think of are the cold steel roach belly, or maybe one of Tod Cutler's knives.. the bushcraft knife or field knife. Those were specified as 440C when they first came out, now it just says medium carbon stainless, so who knows? Interested to see what others...
