    WHAT DID YOU MAKE TODAY?

    Canvas Tent Repair. Advice wanted

Now you'll be needing one of the S-shaped triangular needles.

    Capers

I do that too :) On pizza with tuna and onion. Tartare sauce is made with capers, parsley, chervil, gherkin, shallot and mayo. It’ll make fish and chips a lot better than the commercial stuff. As @Billy-o says, in melted butter for fish is good.

    What did you buy today?

Don’t worry, I’ve already got his coat

    What did you buy today?

Didn’t buy it today, but got an adaptor for the cheap butane canisters and fettled the pot supports a bit. This is a BRS-201A wok burner that cost £21.17 posted from Aliexpress. You’ll see why I need to run it on the £1 a pop cans ;)

    Wooden Chopping Boards

Cascamite is good, get the surfaces freshly planed, glue and the usual 3 clamps and it should be fine.

    What did you buy today?

That looks far from being a rot box.

    WHAT DID YOU MAKE TODAY?

Very easily. The beads come out ok, the particles want to sink so I set a layer of clear, then the glow, then more clear.

    Whittling knife recommendations

Don't start mate, you've a rep for being a pain. Have you read the OP? It's not a lesson in semantics, and it's not me asking the question. The question is, "I'm looking to upgrade my whittling knife and wondered if anyone has any suggestions."

    Whittling knife recommendations

Yeah, but he’s thinking of getting something nicer.

    Whittling knife recommendations

Fairly sure Kepis uses a slightly modified SAK for most stuff. The Little Book of Whittling intro recommends SAK also. I always fancied a nice Case Seehorse Whittler or a GEC (Tidioute and Northwoods) I had a tiny Brusletto Balder out the other day for a youngster to use and though the handle...

    Dereelight DBS V3 battery

Sorry not to get back, away at the moment. Batteries first, the driver (board the LED is stuck to) is a 3A, so your 10A max draw battery, either the Fogstar or the Nitecore should be fine. I’ve been buying from Ecolux as they have such a massive choice of batteries and sizes. Fogstar seem to be...

    Dereelight DBS V3 battery

Also worth knowing that the DBS is a great host for P60 drop-ins so you can upgrade your led module.

    Dereelight DBS V3 battery

Hold fire for a bit and I'll find out. I don't want you actually holding fire as it were ;) My first thought is that an older light like this may not have a low voltage protection circuit and you may need a protected cell with the circuit in the battery. Over discharge of li-ion batteries isn't...

    Newbie

A fair few of us here did the same. I loved that programme.

When to straighten a stick to make into a walking stick?

Probably the best answer to your question is "When I need it straight". The chestnut came out of the coppice by the thousand, boiled, peeled, bent. Then off to the NHS, before they started using the horrible aluminium ones with the complicated and environmentally toxic processes involved. Such a...

When to straighten a stick to make into a walking stick?

Chestnut walking stick handles are bent as soon as they’re cut, we used to drop them into an oil drum of boiling water, peel and bend in a jig. Bent Blackthorn or whatever I try to dry straight with even air circulation. I’ve had a few sticks develop a bend by me leaning them up in a crowded...

    Recommend a YouTube Channel

I read the opening post, so it's nothing bushcraft at all, but what I'd recommend if anyone enquired about the subject. Project Unity is a great channel, Jay is doing good stuff about the pyramids, even interviewing the Italian scientist who discovered the pillars and labyrinths beneath. This...

Sickle type knife for foraging herbs

I reckon this is a great choice. It has a bigger curve than most hawkbills. Locking isn’t a problem if your intention is to use the knife for what it’s designed to do, it’s too easy to close a hooked blade on your fingers while reaching in.
