Best option for a slicey, 3-4” full tang stainless blade with a flat grind?

I'm guessing your wifi isn't loading pics too well, but it's loose, not stuck to the strop.

    Is this fatwood?

That looks about right, soaked with resin. If you can beat the peg out then the best bit is revealed.

Tengu Versus Highland Castles (or anything else, for that matter)

Not really, mid range Bongo is around £4000-£6000. You could spend that renting a place for 6 months and you'd still need a car to get to work and back. Also, having a van ready kitted gives such a lot of freedom to travel around Scotland knowing you don't have to google and pre book...

Help required identifying this old Daniel Silcock tool

I can only imagine. "Medium weight cigarette paper versus North Bucks Fighting Spade...clean in two." :D

Tengu Versus Highland Castles (or anything else, for that matter)

I I think that's too small, it's like a one man tent will keep you dry and let you sleep, but less than practical for getting dressed and undressed, making a cup of tea etc. I know the budget is crucial, but compared to renting for a set period of time, it would still be cheaper to get a...

    What did you buy today?

I have, I minced brisket and lean chuck, ran it through twice, and had the best burger in a long time. Needed a bit more fat, lean chuck is lean so only the brisket added any fat.

    Your picture of the day...

Cursing the Merlin app I got closer and closer to the source of the chirping, still nothing. The reason?

    Any idea what it is?

I crack them, it’ll be a rare thing if it has much shiny metal inside, I usually get a load of brown iron ore and muck. The iron sulphide is a bit like ferro rod steel and prone to decay in humid conditions. Down on Bracklesham beach it’s quite easy to find it as fossilised wood, and those are...

    Any idea what it is?

It's a pyrite nodule. They're very common on the chalk and flint South Downs. I find them fairly frequently but only ever found one that was solid Fools Gold throughout.

    Jerry Can

I had 4, 2 of which I sold. The other two are in use occasionally. Don’t think there’s a better can out there. One gets battered about in the camper and doesn’t leak. Wavian are great to deal with too.

    Your picture of the day...

Hoping you rolled up your trouser legs and donned a knotted hanky for a paddle Dave? Local spring looking suitably blessed this morning.

    Stormy camp on exmoor

Wondered if you’re using a remote canister stove or one that screws onto the can? This is the Alpkit I have and it’s pretty stable. Re: the site, the one in the pics I posted wasn’t as far north as Lynton.

    Recommend me a wristwatch.

Here's another big Steeldive, SD1961. An homage to the Seiko Samurai it uses the same Seiko movement used in the Samurai but this is the NH36 day/date variant. Nice touch. https://www.steeldives.com/products/steeldive-sd1953c-nh35-sub-diver-watch

    Recommend me a wristwatch.

Aliexpress have Steeldive Store. A good seller and a whole lot cheaper than anyone UK. Also, there are usually colours there that haven't made it here. The green lume used on Steeldive is exceptional, I think the SD1970 won a Lume Wars comp a few years ago.
