Survival is all about a good cup of tea

Having read what is a superbly sensible article, it has got me thinking. What is a cheap brew kit that could be made up for scouts, cadets or suchlike. My personal kit is a crusader cup, cooker, etc - but at £25-£30 by the time you include a pouch its getting a little pricey to sort them out for...

Where'd you go on summer camp then?

Personal opinion is that if you like the water, you have to go a long way to beat Longbridge at Marlow in Buckinghamshire. Superb site and a friendly/helpful crew. (www.longridge.org.uk) No connectiona apart from being a satisfied customer. Rich

Of course asll this costs money (1 set of kayaking gear is likely to set you back £600; getting one kayak coach qualified is likely to...

    Being PC....

Througouly agree that there is a lot of old ****, where common sense seems to have been ruled out but..... As someone involved in running scouts these days - I have to say that "boy scouts" is so often followed by comments like "dib dub dib" (if anyone knows what thats all about, please...

    newbie air cadet adult leader

Ahh - some of us do. Both sea and air scouts can be Navy or RAF recognised which comes with tremendous benefits. As RN recognised Sea Scouts we took part in the International Fleet Review on board ship, along with a number of cadet groups. Seroiously though if you are thinking about giving...

    frosts clipper info

Hi ya I think it is sheet shank - as in sheets being nautical term for rope controlling a bit of sail (main sheet; jib sheet; etc) As for use - it can be either for shortening a rope or for taking the strain off of a damaged piece. Guess the 2nd came first, but it is just that - a guess Rich
