    Advice on axe selection

I am 5'8" as well but I am more interested in limbing and splitting than felling. I typically only take deadfall. Now, around the farm it is a different story but not when I am out camping. A little bit of crafting as well but for rough shaping. My carving is done with knives. I guess one...

    Advice on axe selection

I was looking at the 60cm and the 40cm models. The 50cm model is sold as a carpenters hatch but I was not sure to think about it as many people claim that the profile is a bit too flat for general purpose use. That said, reading the reviews reveals that there was a design change. Maybe it is...

    Advice on axe selection

It seems that a lot of people like this axe, I was just curious because the sizing seemed odd to me. Kind of like a one knife option in the woods or using a 240mm Gyuto for everything in the kitchen, it is a wee bit cumbersome for me. My kitchen knife system is 5 knives for dedicated tasks. So I...

    Advice on axe selection

Hello everyone, as I am headed back to the states in a few months I have been looking into ordering some new kit to supplement what I already have from the past. While I have always enjoyed the outdoors I had never heard the term bushcraft until moving to Europe, while I have many tools that...

    Advice on water filter systems

I have been drinking the tap water here in Spain for about 3 years and have never had an issue. I had no issues in Portugal either.

Winge and Moan - video and reviews

To be fair, while I do find poor quality videos to be an annoyance they are not near as atrocious as some other practices I see employed on the web. First and foremost are those who flat out lie about the product they are reviewing wear on my nerves. Then there are those who not only grossly...

MCQBushcraft - Introduction to Bushcraft series

I agree. I haven been following Mike's channel for quite awhile now and I am certainly in favor of getting more videos from him each week!

The test must have bushcraft accessory

I'll stick to small bodies of freshwater. :D Then again, I suppose bull sharks may find their way further inland eventually. :yikes:

Asking a landowner for permission to hunt and snare rabbits on their land.

Wow, this is a rather informative thread. There are many examples of just how different rules and regulations are from place to place. Having grown up in Pennsylvania asking for permission to hut on land was more of a courtesy than a requirement as most land is posted as either open to hunting...

    Greetings

I will have to check to see if my mother-in-law has one of those. As for the Opinel, I have a few 7's and 8's back in the states. They are simple but trusty! Thank you. Thank you.

    Greetings

To be honest I really don't get much done that is similar to how I used to live. My daily routine is hosting an English conversational group for those wanting to improve their speaking skills, shopping (food) and cooking. Cooking is another joy of mine and luckily living in a new place makes...

    Age Test: What Is This?

You could use the back of a cheap ikea (kitchen) utility knife to shave potatoes and carrots as you would shave tinder. It doesn't work so well on cucumbers, though. Peels it nice and thin. Living in the city I have to practice my bushcraft skills on chopsticks and veggies. :lmao:

    Greetings

Thank you for the kind welcome. As for Spanish Bushcraft groups, yes there is Bushcraft Spain but my living in Spain is only temporary and I will be going back to the states around mid July. That aside, my Spanish is what you might call survival Spanish. You might think that living in Spain...

    Greetings

Greetings all My name is Travis, I am 27 years old and I am from the United States but I am currently living in Spain. Having grown up in rural Pennsylvania I have always had a fondness for the outdoors. Sadly I now live in the city, something I have not adjusted to well, and rarely get a...
