    TOP TIPS AND TRICKS.

I keep some curved needle nose pliers with my cook kit(s) for lifting lids etc and especially lifting the cup support off an alcohol burner.

    TOP TIPS AND TRICKS.

I've come to the opposite conclusion and use 2 pegs tied at either end of a short piece of string. Handy for hanging shoes over my stove amongst other things.

    Legality and Perception of EDC's

I always have a slipjoint on me now but have used a locking or fixed blade at work in the past. Out here in the countryside if you see someone in a field carrying a gun then that's just part of rural life. Contrast that with in town where a SAK can throw people into hysteria.

Government consultation on banning large knives and machetes

Thus far they are still saying "cutting edge" rather than "blade length" regarding legal carry but I don't disagree that it may be interpreted differently in court and that the government's trend is towards tighter laws.

    Todays Whittling

That's reminded me of my grandad who had a very narrow strip of grass outside his front wall which people let their dogs poo on. Tired of cleaning up dog mess, his solution was to get me to scrape off the turf and put gravel down in its place. This successfully dissuaded the dogs but became a...

    Todays Whittling

Elder is considered unlucky in some English folklore, though I think that was down to early Christians trying to stamp out pagan traditions.

Electronic Bushcraft, Sourcing Energy and building Radio Communication from Earth

There are some interesting theories such as dark matter and untapped energy sources such as neutrinos but throwing big words at the problem doesn't make it happen. With regards to batteries the key thing to know is where the energy is coming from because if it's not the 'free' part...

    Sentimental EDC

I'm peeved about a few things I've lost over the years and the reasoning can only be described as sentimental. One was my very first pen knife which somehow ended up in my parents' Rayburn. Not that I'd ever really use it now but it would be nice to have.

What counts as edc? Is it only stuff in your pockets or can it be stuff that lives in a bag or in your vehicle?

What are your favourite pocket knives?

Sorry for the late reply, it's 12.5mm or half an inch wide across the back. It's a small knife but very comfortable for its size.

    Carrying petrol and meths

You can get a dedicated bottle from Trangia ~£25 iirc. I use a metal can/bottle that originally contained xylene. Meths is far less volatile.

    Are you a GEARDO?

Re. knives, I'm guilty of owning loads but I don't understand people who build an EDC kit or bugout bag that contains loads of knives. Just in case the other 11 fail I guess.
