Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
yup - good point by Drew. Lots of people like using knots - I don't. Simplest/ quickest setup is crabs with suspension cord, but I prefer nylon webbing. I use tri-glide buckles to do the adjusting of the length/ tension of the webbing which makes the setup dead easy and quick.
If you have a...
I use a honey stove and find that it's generally cool enough to pack up by the time I've had me brew :) No pics I'm afraid but there's some very arty ones in the 'Honey Stove on tour' thread...
Hi and welcome! As regards waterproofing I assume you wish to have a roof over your head as you sleep?! Standard setup is a tarp/ basha and the config for really bad weather is on the diagonal rather than the more usual A frame method - this works best for a hammock and gives you some additional...
I've slept a lot of times in my DD Travel and usually like a baby - however I'm a mere 5'8'' (sorry don't know new money). It's true that DDs should be rigged as flat as possible, but I think the key to getting horizontal is lying on the diagonal in the hammock - a flatter rig helps you achieve...
There's a 3rd group buy going on at the moment, but I think it might nearing completion - here's the thread:

You could try asking Wanderinstar if he's expecting to do another or failing that keep an eye out in the classifieds - I'm...

A nice looking piece of work like Shep's so you might be interested in contacting him?
Quick question as I haven't tested them personally, but do folks think regular tealights would work fine under 0C? I ask because I'm considering a mini candle lantern and your standard tealights go straight in - thanks!
I've got one of the mk2 Coccoon's and find it a great piece of kit. Although I considered having a go at a DIY job I don't really have the skills and to be honest am a bit lazy. For me one of the best points is the ease of entry/ exit compared to using a conventional sleeping bag. Don't get me...
Cheers for the heads up - I have been considering buying a mini one of these to hang under my tarp. Although I obviously wouldn't always be out in cold temperatures it's useful to be aware of this - thanks for sharing your observation!
Well I'm a new neighbour then - pleased to meet you! Just moved in on 31/12 from Ealing, so hope we can meet somewhere bushcrafty in the SE with some others on this thread...
As above, only some people have reported condensation problems with the Travel model - loads get on fine with it. I'm one of the latter - I've used it all year round (-4C being the coldest) in all kinds of weather and have always been comfortable. I've used the inflatable pad in the pocket setup...
Similar results I'm happy to say, although in the less than bushcrafty urban setting of London! Base layer + short sleeve 'keep cool' T shirt + Swanndri Skipper shirt = lovely and warm wandering around in -1. Like John said, a lot more effective than I was expecting so top result
I got some pro slap straps with ENO hammocks I bought and don't rate them to be honest - it becomes irritating having the loops at set intervals as I always found them to be in the wrong place. Webbing with carabiners is the way to go in my humble opinion, and I use tri-glide buckles which make...
