    Knife for mother in law

I fell like a right git, choosing a thread title like that. But... it did make me chuckle:lmao:. I happen to like my mother-in-law. I did have my fair share of potential ones which made me wonder where they'd kept the broom and cauldron. Keep it coming.

    Knife for mother in law

Yeah, it's a bit long in comparisson, mainly because the blade is somewhat short. Feels good in the hand though. Thanks for your kind replies!

Just finished a knife and sheath for my mother in law. She's quite a keen carver and an avid camper. I hope it serves her well. Best regards.

Cleaning pine resin of your hands???

olive oil works great too and isn't as ruff on your hands as some remedies suggested. i'm a tree surgeon/arboricultural advisor so i've had my fair share of pine resin stained hands and arms for that matter..

Another wood spirit - but still not how I want it.

Nice spirit! I always kind of like the way things never turn out the way you plan when working with wood. It gives the item a certain personality all of its own. Keep up the good work!

    The powerpot

Isn't cold an relative thing? As long as the temperature difference is enough it would create power. I'm not sure how longlived the peltier-elements wil be though, especially if they run quite hot most of the time. With the water boiling it would run atleast an 100C. Hmmm, i'll have to ponder on...

Help ! Wood stove tent needed !

I've facedthe same challenge last year, ended up getting a very old canvas tent (de Waard). paid €65,- for it which in old money would be something like 40 pound stirling. Made a stove out of an ammo-can and stuck it in there. Last winter i've camped in -15C, nice and toasty inside. Looks...

storing wood to be used for carving

Wouldn't it make sense to store it in, or rather, under water? It won't rot quickly under water because of lack of oxygen and the wood will be more easy to carve as opposed to dry wood.

"Le Garonnais" a traditional hand-made French pocket knife

I have one (similar), its a great little knive. Doesn't keep an edge too well, but is a doddle to sharpen.

Carbon Monoxide tent deaths. Can we do something positive?

I have, well it's a CO or carbon monoxide monitor, since that's the real killer. Apperently CO2 doesn't kill as often because you'll smell the smoke before it kils you. Haven't tried this theory out though. My monitor never went of though, even burning browncoal briquettes, which are notorious...
