    Ration Packs

I understand that, but we are not 'at war', we have 'fire', have no shortage of water in this country, and are trying to "thrive, not survive".

The whole lot is simply 'boil water'. The porridge is great for a hot, calorie kick-start in the morning and is the 'instant porridge with syrup' (214Kcal) simply add 180ml of boiling water. Even throw in a bit of dried fruit / nuts to add more flavour & Kcals if you want.

    Ration Packs

A typical 24 hour ration 'box' weighs about 1.8kgs which is too heavy to carry on a 'walking basis' but fine for a 'static' camp. My 'own build' 24 hour ration bag weighs 554 grams and consists of : 1x Porridge, 1x Cup-A-Soup, 1x Plastic K,F,S 1x 700 Kcal Chicken Tikka & Rice, 1x 345 Kcal...

    Tomshoo! Titanium wood stove

Had you considered trying a bottle of de-hydrated water (simply add water and you get WATER !!) Alternatively carry a small cylinder of Hydrogen and a larger one of oxygen - mix the contents in a ratio of 2:1 (2x Oxygen and 1 x Hydrogen) Shake well and the result is water.

    Snowdon

Many years ago a group of us were walking up Snowden, the weather turned and we turned around. A school party pressed on, it got steadily worse and they decided to take the 'easy track' (the railway) back down the mountain. Three of the boys slipped on the ice and went over the side. They...

    Tent Suggestions

If 'vehicle camping' then weight is not much of an issue. It could be worth 'having a word' with your local Regiment, they may want to support you and could offer some equipment (on loan) It costs nowt to ask.

So I left a 3D printed matchbox under water for 3 months...

Firearm components can be made (and have been) using 3D printing such that the Home Office guidelines to Police forces now includes sections relating to 3D-Guns. Example : 1.12. What is the government doing to prevent 3D printed guns being used? If someone were to possess, purchase...

Lengthening days, but by how much?

Now there is the big difference between us : I went for a short 5.3 mile walk on New Years Day, and living in the 'flat lands' I took oxygen with me as I knew I'd be going up our local mountain (known as a mole-hill in other places) My start & finish height above se-level was 29 foot and the...

    3 Season sleepingbag....for the winter?!

The problem I have found with Down sleep wear (even Down sleeping bags) is that Down acts as an insulator ONLY when it is 'fluffed up' with air, as soon as you lie on it, it simply becomes a very thin layer of Nylon and flattened feathers giving very little insulation. The most heat loss occurs...
