    Puppy looks ill

I hope you've kept that first vet in your address book. Vets like that are worth their weight in gold, whereas I find the second often typify the worst kind who use emotional blackmail and false hope to wring every last penny out of the owners or their insurance companies regardless of the...

    Puppy looks ill

Spot on Stew. I've owned and worked dogs all my life. I regard most veterinary practices with almost the same distain as politicians, bankers and lawyers, but by your own admission Paul, the little dog isn't right and a quick trip to the vet will probably cost you less than a ton for your peace...

BcUK Photograph of 2018 Competition February Heat Winner

Thanks to everyone who voted for my photo and special thanks to Steve for running this competition. :) I'd especially like to thank all the dogs in my life, whether mine, or in this case those of my daughters, that I look after when I house-sit for them. Without them, this old fella would almost...

Where to get stuff for a pack mod.?

@Tiley I've got just short of 6ft of 1" olive webbing off an old Berghaus Cyclops I'm taking apart. Yours if you want it and I've dropped you a PM/ started a Conversation with you. Let me know whether it's what you are after. :)

    Field Notes cover

Sorry Lou, me not being clear I think. I meant just carrying the stitching along the closure strap to the far left of the second pic, not to sew it to anything, but rather for the final overall aesthetic. :)

Ideal for a lefty like me then, but sadly I have more than my share of leather notebook covers just now. :(

    Field Notes cover

Lovely job there. Had I the skills to come close to making something like that and I don't, so this is certainly no criticism, I think I'd have continued the stitching along the closure rather than leave it grooved. :)

How much are you after? If it’s the bog standard 1” stuff on military bergans and the like I might have some I’d be happy to pass on.

    Moth trapping - Advice sought.

Thanks for that. :) we bought a large, mains powered LED unit from China when we were contemplating building a Skinner moth trap along these lines...

    Moth trapping - Advice sought.

I agree. I’ve never had much time for Mr Furry-Whippingstool, but whoever his research and production team were for this series, they have found some really interesting characters and amateur naturalists and either Hugh has found himself comfortable in this new genre, or his team has told him to...

    Moth trapping - Advice sought.

Thanks for the reply. We considered doing this too and even bought the appropriate LED lamp, but for several reasons, the most relevant being that my friend is terminally ill, we have decided to go down the "buy it rather than build it" approach to try to rule out the hit and miss, time...
