Kind of how I felt too :yikes:.
Yup ..the kind that twists to open, but there's plenty of similar sized tins like shaving foam etc.

Hi Knightfisher,
Did try using a dremel tool and the little discs that came with it but I figured it would have taken forever and a fair few discs to cut a groove good enough to split the jar. Come to think of it I could maybe try out some of those diamond dremel ones.
I'm quite interested...
Tried that a few times ...was'nt pretty :yikes: . Think there must be a knack to it :).
Hi Ness ,
It gives of a little less than the small Uco one as far as I can make out.
Enough to act as a navigation light to help guide someone back to their hammock after a few beers :D.

Tried that method ,found it worked great with larger bottles/jars but had no luck with the narrow glass that was required for a candle lantern :dunno:.

Hi Knightfisher,
I originally used 50ml but that was over kill really .I would think 40 ml would suffice and that is roughly the first band from the bottom of the stove as you look into it, on mine anyway. May vary depending on how you cut up the can but should be around the same mark.

Spartan and Tinker for me too but I like the cork screw on the Spartan as it can house the little screwdriver which I find, as a spectacle wearer , comes in handy now and again .
Hi silvergirl,
Based just outside Forfar, the reserve is called Murton used to be a sand and gravel quarry which has been reclaimed and now is a nature reserve and educational facility. Soon to also have a farm and tearoom too, got a wind turbine up to power the tea room now.
Used to work on an estate, which was a pretty varied job , quite a bit of forestry and sawmill work along with fencing and general building repairs....jack of all trades, same on most estates .
Now work on a small local nature reserve which also trains young people in various outdoors skills .
Clearing the road to the house to get the car out and for access for a much needed delivery of heating oil :hatscarf: not run out ...yet :togo:, thank god for the old open fire places though.
Borrowed the works compact tractor sure beats a shovel .
