How do you feel about people joining to post Surveys?

The irony of posting a pole on this question is not lost on me!!!! How do you feel about people joining to post Surveys? As a rule we have not permitted posting of surveys, particularly by new members who have joined just for that purpose alone. We do not like the idea of our membership being...

Sold New Pics - Robert Taylor (Old Ways Bushcraft) Bushcraft Knife

For clarification, @rickieb posted as a new member last night but the post wasn’t seen and approved till just now, in the meantime, unaware of the interest, @jonsykes bumped. I hope the two of you can agree a mutually happy price. Sorry about the delay.

    So.. what happened...

Aye, very different. Lots of people moved on to Facebook and instagram. This has affected many other forums on other subjects too. No major personalities on TV has meant fewer are being inspired. When the forum started many were in our 20s or 30s, now in our late 40s or 50s and it is noticeable...

    Wool anoranks?

Removed the unfurl=true in the url link. That fixed the error we were all getting…. Doesn’t do anything about the reliability of the supplier.

    PSA. Spyderco C94PDBL UKPK Blue 110 steel - £61

I have a S110V UKPK and really like it. Definitely harder to sharpen but cuts cardboard for a long time and remains sharp

    PSA. Spyderco C94PDBL UKPK Blue 110 steel - £61

Very tempting, but temptation is tempered by stuff I read on other forums. This is a quote lifted from Blade Forums, where it was sent from Spyderco to a member asking about buying from Amazon.

    Anorak or smock recommendations

So you like smocks (no front zips) more than jackets (with front zips)? Or not fussed eitehr way? Any thoughts on budget? How do you define "all rounder"? For instance, I took a Paramo Velez Light smock in black on a business trip because I wanted a fairly packable wind/waterproof that wasn't...

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

Well, I guess I have been lucky then, because my Baton II has been going well since March 2019. It has edged out my three Fenix lights for every day carry, and lives in my back left hip pocket when I am not at work (office trousers and sitting on my butt don't do well with torch carry) I also...

The Evolution of Scottish Kilts: From Tradition to Modern Fashion

Sorry @asdfjacka, spam posts are not permitted and posting spam is a bannable offence. All new posts must be manually approved before they appear, so there was really zero chance that this would have been posted with your links intact. However, you put so much effort into the post, and it...

    Designing a portable stove

When I bought my Bush Buddy there were two really cool articles, this was one https://hikinginfinland.com/2009/11/interview-fritz-handel-from-bushbuddy.html This the other Page 112 of this article https://backpackinglight.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/arctic1000-compilation.pdf...

    Designing a portable stove

Okay, filled in. Feedback on the survey. While the results of single choice questions are clear, they may not be accurate. There were quite a few questions where it would have chosen several answers since several were equally valid. For instance, my Bush Buddy twig stove was great fun, but...

    Designing a portable stove

Hello and Welcome Post approved. I will have a go at your survey shortly. I was wondering what your interpretation of “good sustainability credentials” is? For example: Little wood burning stoves use twigs and local renewable fuel. Stoves can be made from discarded cans, pop cans for alcohol...

    Met office "faking" climate data

The tightrope between thinking about and discussing and questioning subjects above one’s intellectual pay grade and being lead meekly by society’s authority figures. Is it possible to attain real knowledge without first navigating the path described by Messrs Dunning and Kruger?

    Uk spear point

Have you joined Edge Matters? You have to register to read, and subscribe to buy, but it is cheap, and while small, it is knife-centred, whereas this place is more outdoors skills centred, despite all the sales threads.

Sounds like a good case to wait another year and get something exactly as you want for £200 ;)

    Interruption link

Get rid of the unfurl=true bit, just have URL inside [ ] brackets. Its up to the poster, but that is the bit of code that puts "Pardon the interruption" in as text instead of just showing the link.

    Uk spear point

Is the aim to be a collector, or are you looking for a user? Do you have other legal carry folders in other blade shapes already?

    Uk spear point

The problem is that there are not that many UK makers of folding knives. Of those, there are even fewer who make spear points. If those are out of your range, you can probably save yourself looking at any sole craftsman made knives, and will have to go with something more mass produced...
