    LK35 wanted for trade

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had an LK35 they would be willing to trade. I have a few bit's and bobs I could pass on for example but not limited to: A nice double bit axe head, Surefire torch, 44cal lead mould for catapult shot and I'm sure I've got other stuff if not of that floats your...

Wanted Sleeping bag for army cadet

Thank you for that. We're hoping to find something second hand as we're on a bit of a budget and knowing that most bushcrafters have redundant kit I thought I'd ask rather than buying new. If all else fails we'll speak to Jasper at strike force and get a new one. I notice he hasn't got any...

Wanted Sleeping bag for army cadet

Hi all, I'm looking for a sleeping bag for my niece who's recently joined the cadets. She's borrowed mine a couple of times but now it's time for her to get her own. She's about 5 and a half foot and would ideally like a green one. The one she has borrowed from me is 3 seasons. If anyone has...

12v Dc to 240v Ac Inverter recommendations

In our van we run a 200w solar panel with an MMPT controller, 2 100ah LiFePo4 batteries and a Sterling power inverter which is 1000w pure sine wave. The system works well but the solar panel is well undersized for the system and our weather, we don't stay in the same place that long though so...

    DIY VAWT

Have you seen any of Kris Harbours videos on YouTube? His home made turbine started off as a VAWT he then changed the design to a HAWT. He doesn't really show the design but has some very interesting points in it. he's done a few videos on it, the VAWT videos are very old and quite poor quality...

    Wood burner stove advice please

Look for the pallets that are stamped HT as these are heat treated rather than treated with chemicals. They are the ones we tend to burn.

    Sold THEOBEN ''Evolution'' Air Rifle

I really miss my Theoben evolution, they are lovely air rifles. The gas ram failed in mine and the gun shop persuaded me to change it for a spring. Big mistake, although it was on the legal limit it had one hell of a twang. I sold it in the end as I stopped using it in favour of my other gun. If...

    Unreasonable women

Our house it the same, we live in a small cottage and use the conservatory as a living room, at the moment it has a complete hot air balloon in it (not inflated). It's defiantly a conversation starter with any visitors. I'm rebuilding our barn at the moment which will be my new workshop when its...

    Keyring Things..

Just have a car key and a house key on my key ring. Replaced too many worn out ignition barrels from people having too many things on their key rings.

    Fire pistons, what's "the knack"?

What is the technique you're using? I taught my 10 year old niece how to do it. She wasn't able to push down with enough force so what we ended up doing was to insert the plunger, lift the whole lot up together then bring it down with force nice and square and quickly pull the plunger out with a...

    Power at the farm

It's also worth bearing in mind that the usable capacity of a lead acid battery is only about 50% of its nominal capacity and that to fully recharge the last 20% requires a float charge that takes a very long time. In my installs I tend to use LiFePO4 battery's, very expensive but you can use...

    Small spirit stove

How about a white box stove? https://www.backpackinglight.co.uk/cookers-and-stoves/RB105-112.html Or one can be made at home from an Impulse deodorant can. They weigh next to nothing but you would still need a pan support.

You know you’re getting old when……

Same same but different, excise duty is still tax. I’m not actually that old in the grand scheme of things (approaching middle age)

You know you’re getting old when……

I noticed I must be getting old because I realised road tax is more expensive that insurance.

    Good milk container

I take a small thermos flask of milk when camping. Works great but needs to be sanitised to keep the milk from going off over a few days. I also get the thermos and the milk as cold as possible before filling.

    How to carry oil?

I use lard or trex for cooking as it's solid and therefore easier to transport/store.
