    Austrian Army Mountain Sweater

Heinz, That's a kind offer - if you see one on that would fit me of course! I am 193cm tall and have a 120cm chest which I think makes me a size 56. I guess that may make it difficult! If you see one and can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful! Thanks, Henry

    Austrian Army Mountain Sweater

Thank you. I will call endicotts. Am I right that the new ones advertised on the auction site are inferior copies? Logically they must be.

    Austrian Army Mountain Sweater

Hi, Since a large part of my outdoor wardrobe has be recommeneded by this forum and by Mr Fenna, I thought I would come and ask about the Austrian army jumpers. I am after a really hard wearing wollen top and found refence to these. They are tough, they are green, they have a long neck...

    looking for a wool top

Had anyone ever tried one of these bad boys? I've never tried dachstein, I've looked at it in the shops in Chamonix, very stiff pre-shrunk material. This military type top looks like it would be good for me as an outer.

    Rogue RB-5s

I've had no such trouble with the eyelets on my RB5's and I crank them up reasonably tight. I'm going to have to get a set of the RB2's now to slop about and take over from some deck shoes!

    Rogue RB-5s

For the price I paid for the Rogue boots I didn't feel robbed. They maybe a bit cheaper on evil bay etc.

    Rogue RB-5s

Hi, Thought I would leave some feedback on a pair of boots. These are very much like Courteney boots sold in the UK by Westley Richards and worn by every professional hunter I've met in SA and Zim. They cost a lot in the UK, but recently I saw these similar boots sold on the RM website, still...

    which ventile smock?

I think SASS Kit have run into a problem of not being able to source MTP fabric, so cutting out their ability to retail to soldiers. A pity as friends who have used their smocks rate them.

Where to buy a REAL pattern 58 water bottle?

One of the best bits of issue kit. The fact that you can today still be issued a bottle from the 1980s is testament to their strength. The bottles are impossible to destroy but I have had caps split but these are easily replaced. If you have a choice avoid the respirator compatible cap as...

Waterstone and Leather Strop Field Sharpening Kits - June 2012

Well I would certainly use one of these... can you add me to the list?? Thanks

    Ridgeline against Swazi Tahr ?

I cannot comment on the Thar, but I have used a Ridgline smock for stalking in scotland and england. Its not fallen to bits after some hard use and has given me excellent protection, its a good bit of kit.

    Stiff soled walking shoes boots?

I'd take a good look at a set of Lowa mountain boots. A fantastic walking boot, you can find them with or wthout g-tex. They have a pretty rigid sole and are made to last. They are not lightweight, but you will grow to love them.

    Accurate First Blood Knife. FULLSTOP.

    - "He said he uses it for hunting." - "Huh, what does he hunt? Elephants?" Great movie, awesome blade. Thanks for a great review. It clear that you take great pride in owning it, which is reason enough to have commissioned it. If you use it then even better.

    cross bows your view

Now I see where you have become confused, earlier you said: “The shorter the barrel of an air rifle, the less spin is imparted on the pellet. Therefore the spin will slow down quicker and the pellet will de-stabilise in flight sooner, you will get wobble from the skirt first which will then...

    cross bows your view

What are you pointing out? Do you think that your air rifle barrel would have a different twist rate if it was shorter?

    cross bows your view

You were comparing my belief that it is irresponsible to shoot at live quarry with a .22 legal limit air rifle at 70 yards (and up to 90?) with my attitude to the longest successful shot taken by a British sniper on Op Herrick. I am entirely comfortable with being disgusted with the former and...

    cross bows your view

I am talking specifically about airguns here, but similar principles apply to powder burning rifles. Why does a sniper rifle not have a short barrel? Its because it needs a long barrel to make efficient use of the slower burning powders in rifle (as opposed to pistol) cartridges and to achieve...

    cross bows your view

Apologies to the OP for taking this off topic further but... I think the central point here for me is that, even if you have anough adjustment to bring a 12ft/lb rifle on target at 70 or even 90 yards, no responsible individual would shoot at anything living at that distance. I think that...
