Sussex Bushcraft Group - January Meet?

Ohh - Snow perhaps!!! I think I have access to plenty of water containers, I'll put three in my car and fill them at the office. If we are in for some cold weather, then Luke is right about the fire (and having the gear to maintain it), I'll make sure I have my bow saw and a large axe for...

Sussex Bushcraft Group - January Meet?

I can bring 25ltr jerry cans, which could be filled & driven up to D1. A9 its going to be difficult to get a chute up to the height we would need for a large group. N

Sussex Bushcraft Group - January Meet?

D1 would still be my favourite, it certainly was the best place for putting the chute up and is fairly central for the facilities. Hugo - it was my coleman stove, very good bit of kit if they still do them. John and the boys at Broadstone are very obliging if there is a problem it has to be...

Sussex Bushcraft Group - January Meet?

I think (so far) D1 has been the best. It is certainly easier to get the chute up and vehicle access is easier. The pitches were level and well drained too for the ground dwellers. Its only downside is lack of firewood, but we could bring our own in. On another note - I have done the recce for...

Sussex Bushcraft Group - January Meet?

Christmas over and the new year well under way......so how about another??? I'm thinking the last weekend in January (27,28,29), the usual place and hopefully the usual suspects? Its not restricted to Sussex passports holders - so if you are in Kent and fancy a change of scene - please come...

Sussex Group Meet for December: Christmas Dinner cooked on the Fire! Dec 17th/18th

Under blankets are fairly straight forward to make. As Kepis said they are easily made from a ponch liner, the problem is the method described hangs too far below the hammock (creating a large "cold-air" space), also a single layer of poncho liner is'nt very thick - it needs to be doubled...

REVIEW: Council Tool Velvicut Hudson Bay Axe (pic heavy)

I have had a S&N Hudson Bay for 3years now. Its basic, but it works and works very well (I was never one to shop in boutiques anyway). I have a nice picture of Mors Kochanski using Rods S&N (and waxing very lyrical about it!) I really like the look of this one though - if I was in the market for...

New Trousers.... how have yours been?..

I normally use British Army lightwieghts and have done for years, they are cheap, hard wearing and fast drying. A couple of years ago I got some "Tuff-Stuff" workwear trousers (black ones) - good pockets, good cut, etc. I then discovered they also sell "Bushman" Trousers - same polycotton canvas...

    Sussex Group Meet for November

When you like I think! I'm sure Jon said we are the only people on site this weekend. It will probably be dark when I get there (so the chute will have to go up on Saturday morning). The Sussex meets have been really good, they started slow but seem to be gathering pace! N

    Sussex Group Meet for November

Well, perhaps stuff for bread making (but Neumo may have that one covered!), perhaps a dessert item? (baked apples or a autumnal crumble. A sloe gin always goes down well. It does'nt matter what you bring to the table really). N
