    Smart Phones

In my view this forum is a type of social media BUT only to a point. 1. The forum does not seek to push notifications when I’m not on it 2. I’m not given the option to upload any taken photo to BCUK as a quick touch option 3. BCUK does not seek to know my location 4. BCUK does not want me to...

    What did you buy today?

good to here user feedback. I have some of the zip pulls, which seems to be the same element as the compass back, if charged with a powerful torch they glow ok, enough to be seen but not enough to light anything else. Still tempted to get some for the kids though

    Lofty Wiseman Survival Team

Watched half of this today, really enjoyed it actually. Budget was obviously pretty low but I liked the fact that the participants are just everyday people, no massive back stories, no influencers and none of them appear to be chasing fame.

    Smart Phones

I’ve never been into social media much but had an Instagram account and access to a family members Facebook. I sacked insta completely and pretty much shelved Facebook too a few months ago. I found myself idly scrolling on my commute and getting sucked into spin and conspiracy theory, I didn’t...

Thanks all, I’m not adverse to a bit of maintenance but not a fan of having to constantly worry about a knife getting wet or dirty etc Micarta wins out

    Micarta or walnut?

Evening all, happy new year, I’m on the verge of buying a TBS Sabretooth but cannot decide between the walnut or the Micarta scales. The walnut scales would need a light oil every now and again, but other than that is there much difference? Anyone got any strong opinions on which is...

    Money

It’s a double edge sword for retailers. Speaking last night to the chair of the local British legion he said that he pays £11-15k a year in card fees, so he’s anti card BUT if he doesn’t take card he limits the trade he gets as people only carry a limited amount of cash. That “let’s get...

How would you fix the Homeless crisis.?

I feel for you mate. Whilst we all have our views on the NHS when you see the costs that would be incurred without full access it makes your eyes water.

How would you fix the Homeless crisis.?

Correct. A lot of migrants aren’t permitted to work, many aren’t permitted “recourse to public funds” including healthcare, benefits etc. it can seem like they have it all handed to them on a platter, but I can assure you it’s not the case. I have an immigration hotel 100m from me, it used...

What would you have done? - camping

Nothing seedy but I’ve gone to the launderette last knockings with a small cash donation. Dog beds, blankets, horse stuff and such generally banned but as long as I clean up after the chap running it isn’t bothered.

    No heat instant/emergency food?

N Now you are talking. notice how you never got a breakfast and dinner you liked in the same box? I’m sure this was the MOD’s way to prevent too much morale in the lines

    No heat instant/emergency food?

My wife makes “energy balls” for the kids, I’ll try and get the recipe. Like a bird food fat ball but fit for humans

    No heat instant/emergency food?

Mars bars. Keeping the UK marching across the world. Yorkie even printed a “it’s not for civvies” wrapper

    Terrariums - The outdoors indoors.

This thread has unlocked a memory. My friends parents had one in the dining table. Really heavy green glass that just looked like a misted up compost heap. Couldn’t see the appeal back then to be honest, they weren’t particularly green fingered so was probably a gift

    Trapping question

Didn’t realise the rodent ones were finally made illegal A pub I worked in 20 odd years ago used them for mice. The mice would dislocate their limbs in an attempt to escape them

    Trapping question

I read about the horse hair version in a book of old poachers tricks. Even if the end becomes untethered the bird exhausts itself trying to get the hair out of its throat/crop. As BR says there are easier and quicker ways to catch one.
