Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I've never used a jetboil type stove - the "limitations" I was referring to was of the cheap "suitcase" type stove which other than in very cold conditions are otherwise a nice easy way of cooking out of the back of a car etc.
FWIW a petrol Coleman stove is my main "go to" stove for car...
They do have limitations as I found a few years ago camping in a lovely spot at Buttermere in January a bit unplanned so didn’t take my trusty Coleman twin burner. Trying to get butane to stay lit at minus 15 involved sacrificing a lot of body heat rotating canisters between armpit and stove to...
Fair enough - never used a jetboil but understand that they are very well thought of and if these clones do the job at a fraction of the price it is a bargain. :)
FWIW, my go to stove for no faff car camping etc. is one of these cheapo “suitcase” stoves which might not be jetboil quick are easy...
Congratulations - a leaner, younger version of me did the C2C nearly a quarter of a century ago in a very snowy March. Your vids brought back some very vivid memories and some painful ones - like you I flayed my feet after the first day (rookie error with an untried boot/sick combo) - all good...
£2.27 gets you a 400mm long drill bit which will get you most of the way through if you go from each end and with a bit of improvisation should get you the rest of the way! :)

Could have been sabotage by the rival lot from Lancs who made Wayland’s!
Pretty sure mine is the 4120 model on the companies website.

Yours looks pretty authentic and has a wick - the purely ornamental are the R02/3 shown on the...
+1 for Big Pit Museum.
FWIW I have one I inherited which I’m pretty sure is a reproduction one (or at least one never intended to be used underground) which is by the same maker and does have a bigger plate which includes a serial number. Works just fine - just like a more sophisticated...
Great minds.....! :)

As they say, the best time to be planting trees is at least 30 years ago but failing that, do it this year! :)
That said, I do wish I could have had a word with the guy who owned our holding 30 years ago! :emoji_deciduous_tree:
Mrs N does the paperwork for our smallholding but IIRC getting a CPH number for your woods is free and should be pretty straightforward and once you have one it is just an admin job to put your own pigs or other livestock in there or borrow some from further afield...
They do specifically mention priority disabled parking elsewhere on the website so perhaps check whether “blue badge” holders get in for free.
Even if not, the entry price for one person using a car is £25 which IIRC, the same as for a day ticket to the BCUK Moot (£18 if booking in advance) and...
High carpark charge seems to be part of an effort to encourage people to use greener transport to get there.

I forgot about the Green Scythe Fair and missed it! :(

Not too far from the Mendips where I was brunged up but In diary for next year! :)
Fears of pignut Armageddon perhaps a bit exaggerated - sheep have been in amongst the pignut for a week or so now and after some initial chomping by this year’s lambs for whom everything is still an exciting new adventure, they have settled down and left the pignuts alone.
