Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
What a great knife the 510 is, it’s one of my favourite Moras. My go to for wood carving.
I’m surprised it hasn’t been snapped up by the serial thread stallers!
Just cheapo rubbish nowt good.
like the hollow handle Rambo knife I had when I was about 8 or 9 - Used it once as a throwing knife, so inevitably handle and blade parted ways quickly. I don’t think many people had a long term relationship with these type of knives though??
An all black...
I was looking at Skellerups before I started this thread but being recommended by a farmer is surely a good endorsement :)
To be honest the comfort for me mainly comes from not making my feet and trousers soaking wet every time I walk the dogs.
Good recommendations folks, they are much...
Out of all of them, my Grubs fenline lasted the longest before leaking and possibly the most comfortable but I’ve been a bit cautious with the neoprene as mine leaked where the neoprene joined to the rubber. Not bad boots though, will have a look at the stalkers.
The basic, plain rubber ones look suitable. Possibly a bit floppy but can’t be any worse than a pair of Dunlop’s I had that came apart after one winter.
I have been wearing wellies that are supposedly quality ones by the likes of Aigle, Muck and Grub. The thing is they only last a max of 18 months until they start falling apart and start letting water in. This which surprises me as 90% of the time it’s only dog walking through marsh, fields and...
I’ve been carrying the Heinnie wasp a lot lately.
Strong back spring, perfectly machined blade and generously sized handle for a 3 inch slippy.
The S90V is the standout though - keeps a keen edge yet responds surprisingly well to a quick strop.
It’s also been getting soaking wet without too...
Falkniven A1
As new, taken out of box to inspect, then straight back in.
All original packaging it came with is present.
This particular one has the most even lamination line I’ve seen in a Falkniven.
£180. Now £160 via BACS including postage. Over 18s and UK buyer only please.
This has prompted me to look about but as I thought, there really isn’t anything about for a small budget.
There is the Cold Steel GI Tanto that is full tang, currently under £25 and the 1055 mid carbon steel appears to be well received but that is neither 4 inch blade nor probably the style...
Does anyone have any experience with Petroxmax cast iron? Namely their skillet frying pans?
How do they compare to others at the same price point for quality and durability, say by the likes of Lodge etc?
Thanks,
Leon
I cannot say I’ve ever broke a mora.
I remember back in the earlier days battoning a piece of relatively hard, dry sycamore for a bow drill hearth using a full-tang, 4mm thick blade Webley (Chinese stainless steel). Was left holding the Webley’s handle whilst the blade of it was partially...
There are cheap full tang knives out there but generally I have found them to be very poor performing, with steel and heat treats that are way off the mark of a proper working tool.
Usually good production knives that are full tang tend to be sold at a premium over good partial tang knives. To...
