    Has the bubble burst?

i agree a forum is a much better place to gather information than Facebook groups. The feeds are often messy, and previous posts and info are hard to track when so many people are posting pictures. I only use Facebook nowadays to follow some modelling/wargaming (my other hobby’s) groups...

    Has the bubble burst?

I was going to post a thread about how pointless corporate bushcraft weekends must seem to the majority of us on BCUK. To be honest, I have never been on a course. I would probably only consider a mushroom gathering/I.d. Course myself. My interest in bushcraft has 'spilled over' from an interest...

    Has the bubble burst?

Just pondering the current state of UK Bushcraft. Would anyone else agree that the hype seems to be dying off a bit nowadays? Personally, I don't think its a bad thing. It might deter some of the more stupid people in society becoming interested in Bushcraft and giving us a bad name...

    Birch oil fail

I think it was caused by basically creating a furnace in the chimenia. It was really going some, as I was burning up all the birch 'brush' that had fallen in the recent high winds. The paper birch was the same volume/weight as regular birch bark. Also, I had too many air vents in the top of the...

    Birch oil fail

tried to distill some birch oil today on my garden chiminea. I think I either cooked it too long. Or let too much gas escape, by putting to many holes in the lid. Or it was because I used predominantly paper birch bark. I ended up with a trace amount of sticky residue. And all the birch bark was...

Reindeer Sleeping bag, a good idea?

Reindeer fur will leave you covered in hair/fur. Much better as an insulator under your body. Chair or campbed.

    The ‘F’ word (Fjällraven)

I got a fantastic fjallraven looking cheque over shirt from Sainsbury's last year. It's made of that heavy cotton, and if it had a fjallraven logo on it you would have think it cost a fortune! Thoroughly recommended.

    The ‘F’ word (Fjällraven)

Fjallraven. If it was actually made in Sweden I could understand the price tags. But not China. It’s prices are astronomical.
