I've noticed the same, but see it as a result of the Facebook groups becoming so big. Often when chatting to folk and I ask them are you a member of the bushcraft forum they reply yes, but it always turns out to be one of the facebook groups instead

as to your other comment below, havent been to lofoten yet but it's on my list. We did go south to visit the small viking village on Karmoy near Haugesund and that was lovely, great...
haha if only i had such luxury! nope, fly over with it all. 20kg tent on my back, everything else in suitcases. luckily my wooden furniture i keep at a friends farm close to gudvangen

For true carvings, there are only a few simple salmon carvings in Scotland. None of cod, and I know of none in Scandinavia sadly. It's a case of drawing up a modern design inspired by those origins like my salmon

Just spent a few days at the singing sands with two other members.
A bit midge and tick heavy, and plenty of rain, but didn't stop us having a braw time fishing, playing beach hnefetafl, and enjoying our surroundings

nicely done, I agree with Janne. But the best way is to just use it, if it doesn't split then perfect, if it does, then just grind that tang down and enjoy making another :)
