My son took my copy of the Woodland Ways Dutch oven cookbook to a Scout camp planning meeting and they are borrowing two of mine to do their food which is a main, pud and a cooked breakfast using the upturned lid I believe. Quite chuffed actually.
For those that don't know, the Reunion is a weekend or day visit to look at craft bases, hear talks, buy stuff etc and with no kids in tow. This year there was a mini Wilderness gathering and it was nice to see this sort of stand at the reunion.

I've just had the date of the next meeting throug, it's Sunday 23rd October. Quick bump as he next meeting is due soon so if anyone has any other practical skills etc to add to the list...
It's more for leaders. Whilst there is a strong skill set in Scouting you'll have Mrs Mary Housewife and Mr Allen Supermarket Assistant have just taken over a Cub Pack together and don't know one end of a knife from the other so will need things like a new fresh factsheet for example to help...
Whatever comes of this project it will be wrong to someone somewhere! =D
Thanks to all who have posted so far. We had our first meeting with a lot of folk not able to come...and I noticed one individual who wasn't there that will really make things interesting. The 25 list was really a...
I have been asked to join a team to look at the practical skills in Scouting and said that Id put this on Escouts and several bushcraft forums to garner opinion. From the first meeting there were a lot of really good ideas put forward to expand and freshen up the practical skills information...
Right, I'm going to come clean...I'm one of the article writers. Actually, I've done a few now but they have all been in the Cub supplement. The articles I've done (and have in the pipeline) are not trying to re-invent bushcraft but it's getting the subject out into Scoutland. On the basis of...
This weekend just gone (29th-31st July) I attended the Woodland Ways bushcraft weekend.
Having booked it early Id been mentally thinking over the kit list rather a lot and before I knew it the time to pack was upon me. If it helps any future attendees, I live about 15 mins drive from the...
I went on a Woodland Ways bushcraft course this weekend and used Diarystix for my beverages. They are a little bulky but two of them in a brew is much better tasting than powdered. www.dairystix.com
Myke had a book out not so long ago called Hawke's Green Beret Survival Manual/ Special Forces Survival Handbook (big and portable versions of the same publication I believe). Thought the show was Born Survivor meets Dual Survival with a dose of Survivorman.
Quick bump as the course is this weekend. if no one replies off of the bushie forums maybe everyone else attending will be a noob and make me look really good lol
I live close to Celtic Harmony and I'm frustrated that I'm not around for this day at the nd of August http://www.celticharmony.org/pages/days_primitive_skills_festival.php as they have John & val Lord attending doing flint knapping and with the other stuff they are laying on it's a steal at £7...
Earlier this month I went on a national Trust wild camping weekend in Hatfield Forest, Essex. I’d seen an A5 flyer up on a previous visit and thought it would be good to take my two boys. It was supposed to be Friday and Saturday night but as I was also due at the bushcraft base at...
