Alder would be my first suggestion (its easy to carve and doesn't warp or crack upon drying), get it green if you can, some woods can crack quite early on after cutting, and you might not find out until you have finished the spoon.

Here's my offering. A stainless steel canteen, that can be used to boil water. Seal is in good condition. A mug, a 2 sided sharpening stone barely used and a stainless steel 1.5L pan from life venture with bag, this is the exact same as the msr ones.
For a right hander really, the curved side will sit up against the curve of the bowl nicely then. Probably better for a left hander if you were eating out of a square tub though!
