Silva global needle compasses any good?

Whether the Silva or Suunto, over £60 for a plastic acrylic compass filled with oil and a magnetic needle is crazy.

    Candle making - flame boost?

Votives and tea lights are designed to melt into a liquid and have minimal flame of 1cm or thereabouts which is why they are so thrifty with small wicks. For light you need a pillar candle which is designed to stay solid such as these which have a 2cm to 2.5cm flame height.

    Plug in Emergency Lights

You can normally replace the battery and they are good for another 5 years. Last ones I got were from Lidl and have had batteries replaced with commercialy available poly cells after about 6 years. On first, I desoldered and resoldered in battery pack to board. Others, I clipped wires at old...

    Kitchen Knives

My main kitchen knifes are all Victorinox, with plastic moulded handles, with 2 exceptions which is a teak 14 inch bread knife which isnt made anymore (but have a plastic 12 inch as well) and a sheffield boning knife. Easy to sharpen and touch up and pretty much wife proof (sorry bomb proof).

They are still digging it out of bogs and icecaps from 5000 years ago. It will keep basically for ever. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2463397-melting-ice-reveals-millennia-old-forest-buried-in-the-rocky-mountains/

    PSA. Spyderco C94PDBL UKPK Blue 110 steel - £61

Mine has also turned up today, immaculate except the same "over grinding" marks on the base of the grips. Compared it to my old one (bought when they first came out" and the grind marks are the only difference as the old one is perfect at the bottom of the grips. Appears to be a bargain!

    No heat instant/emergency food?

Look up Slow Cooker Fudge... you will never go back to buying shop fudge or Kendal mint cake again. When hiking in winter in Scottish Highlands you should be planning on meals\snacks of 5,000 calories per day. Whether this is eaten as snacks or meals, hot or cold doesn't really matter (though...

    Modern, robust, candle lantern

Don't know which idiot paid that... Bidding looks dodgy, the two previous sold on eBay went for about £9 and £12 each. With the latter unused in plastic sealed packaging

    My "stealth" lights.

It is a shame they don't come as UDB rechargeable, rather than using watch type batteries.
