Is it a thick coating or just a thin covering? WD-40 is good for getting sticky stuff off hard surfaces.

    Dry bags

Long time user of Ortleib dry bags, but I have been trying the Exped ones. I don’t find they are as long lasting and the first time you find that they leak is when you really need them to work. Any recommendations on good drybags before I just go back to my old Ortleib ones? Cheers Louis

    Ideal size for a daysack

Just use what ever ruck you have, just don’t fill it full. Most have compression straps or a way to reduce the volume. At least that way you can work out what you need to take/carry with you.

Warm and Wet (but not in a good way)

I have worn waterproof trousers (lightweight mtp) over shorts. Generally I prefer to get wet legs and use a pair of short gaiters Swazi Hush Putties to keep my socks dry and debris free….. works for me.

I have been using bio-ethanol in Trangia and other stoves, seems to work well to me. I think I picked it up in a hardware store while out and about. Louis
