    For the kids

Beautiful. I'd be a very happy person if I can manage to do that when my children are a little older.

I’m having a clear out of the cupboards and have some kit I no longer want. Various items for sale as detailed below. I’m open to reasonable offers and also trades (with money either way if appropriate). I’m open to negotiating deals on multiple buys. The greater amount is the Paypal price and...

    HELP! Dog Separation Anxiety

We have sprinters. Definitely get a crate and train him to it. You can then cover the crate with a towel blanket to make it more den like and darker for him. The crate should be out and used in the day too so he gets accustomed to it and doesn't see it as a punishment. It also makes it easier...

Tarp camping, ticks, and household bug spray?

Best bet is to tether an unaffected deer (or failing that a sheep nearby) and hope the ticks make a B line for them :) Are you in a bivi bag or similar? Can you hang or suspend clothing to minimise the risk?

    does size matter?

I approach it from a slightly differnat angle in that I don't think man can have but one bag. I have a large bergan, a 45l bag and a smaller 28(ish) sized bag. These cover all eventualities I've faced.

    Best Headtorch?

All Gamma's. 2 were mine, 2 my wife. 1 was a battery compartment and 1 the cable. Don't recall the other two, but given how cheap they were they all just got tossed upon failure.

You can camp where you like in Scotland within reason. Wild camping isn't outlawed like Ongaland. Usual caveats about consideration, not leaving a trace etc. Might be a bit out of your way but A night at Caerlaverock is always great, though better in winter when the birds are back. Yoiunused...

    Best Headtorch?

I have one of the LED Lenser head torches mentioned above. It's my work head torch so gets abused. The first one failed at the cable point into the battery compartment but the present one is going strong. On full beam it is mighty bright and I'd say the product data in the link above is...

    Another clothes thread (sorry)

A true Scot doesn't wear undergarments ;) Trousers? Do you mean a fine tartan kilt. Jackets? If it gets a little inclement perhaps a lightweight cardigan?

    Poor show

Just read the newspaper article. It suggests the air rifle range was 50m. I'd like to see that with a sub 12lb in either .22 or .177 They also said there was a Union Jack. I guess the reporter and editor didn't know their inaccuracy? That's some building that was erected. I'd be pleased with...

    Best Headtorch?

We've had 4 alpkit headtorches and all have died after a couple of years. We think it's the connections between the battery and torch part. Personally I'd stay clear of them. Never tried a Fenix torch but they do seem to get good reviews.
