Paul Kirtley Woodlore Instructor knife video

What was wrong with him? I kinda went off him for a long time because he was a bit dull for me. Nothing against him, its just I couldn't get through his long Q&A videos.

    Best kit of the year

Claymore bags are underrated. I had one years ago (genuine issue) and used it so much I had it tailored, adding a map pocket to the back with velcro closure, velcro closure to the front, and elasticated straps on the inside. On thinking about it, only god knows what happened to it...

    Festive cheer without the beer

I don't drink alcohol either. I do recommend the Big Drop Brew Company if the high Street AF stuff isn't to your liking. Online only, but a great selection.

Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

UL: Lixada 550ml titanium with lid. I use a tiny UL gas stove. Anything else: GSI Glacier kettle. On a fire, or on a gas stove. I also have the ubiquitous JetBoil. A solid bit of kit.

    A quick jaunt...

Having to drop my daughter off at her new farm job, it wasn't worth it to drive all the way home again just to come back 3hrs later, so I googled mapped and found a large woodland not far from the farm. I'd packed my new (to me) berghaus cyclops crusader with a bit odds and sods. I'd also seen a...

Alone (UK) TV series. What ten items would you choose?

That's something that I thought about to. I like predator fishing. I'm not a carp man..... [emoji3] I once got my small finesse lure, single size 8? hook bumped by a pike, but he kept spitting it out. So I rigged up an East-coast treble with 3 separate hooks and fed one of the hooks through the...

i think the majority of the shelters were fit for purpose. An overnight fire isnt really required when you've got a massive sleeping bag though....

Alone (UK) TV series. What ten items would you choose?

I'll take the food rations because then I'm not flapping about a calorie source every day. If I catch a fish, that's a days worth of biltong or pemmican I've saved for another day. I could probably just arrive, build a shelter, procure water and then sit next to my fire most of the day, nibbling...

Alone (UK) TV series. What ten items would you choose?

@Broch I don't think I'd waste my time trying to shoot squirrels with a sling shot. I'm not anywhere near as accurate enough. I'd snare them I think... I think they're too small a yield of energy to be worth the effort of hunting them. They're not like the porky buggers seen in town parks in the...

Alone (UK) TV series. What ten items would you choose?

I just finished binge watching it of an evening. I thought it was a good show. I prefer it over the US versionn which I couldn't watch due to (how I thought) the over dramatisation of things. I orefer to watch the highlight bits on YouTube! [emoji1787]. The US version (as mentioned) has...

    Sleeping mat

Alpkit Numo. Cheap enough, lightweight, packs down small, reasonably robust. Can be inflated with an (available separately) stuff sack in about 4 full squeezes. I've had one for about a year now (I think) and used it lots. Plenty fine for 3 seasons. On my last camp in -3 I was totally fine.
