Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

You need a community ready to accept it's situation first and we're probably at least a generation away from that. Everything I see, everything I hear, locally, nationally and across the western world is focussed upon how we're going to maintain our standard of living. We're not.

    Food dehydrator

Yogurt dehydrates reasonably well, you can either go with yogurt chips as a finished product or pop the chips into a spice grinder and rehydrate with water. Rehydrated yogurt can be a little grainy but it works well with trail fruit or cereal.

I could eat a bowl of soup every day, how about you?

Potato, bratwurst & cornichon. I know how it sounds, but it's really very tasty.

These ones aren't, they're plain linen but this is a good tip, I'd have avoided the fluffy type.

Tea towels. I got a pile of them in an offer at The Range. Only 'converted' two so far.

What do you not eat that therefore makes you "weird"?

Through cooking occasionally for my mum's gluten sensitive chum I discovered pupusas, a sort of savoury pancake cum muffin from El Salvador made with tortilla flour. They're actually quite good as long as you eat them straight off the griddle. Easy enough to make innawoods too.

Anachronistic as it may be. Short Wave radio can still be a useful source of serious news from differing viewpoints. And you're old and nostalgic it can be fun too.

Not the first time it's been said either. :D

What do you not eat that therefore makes you "weird"?

It doesn't make me weird per se, but I don't eat rhubarb. When I was very young I caught a gastric virus, which wasn't exactly life threatening but wasn't too far off it. The last thing I'd eaten before my digestive system opened at both ends was rhubarb and custard. It's nearly 50 years since...

    Best Shemagh?

Mine's salmon pink and attracts all sorts of colourful comments. But it came from a chap who was verifiably with "them" back in '90. Although he could well have pinched it from ladies attire stall in a souk...

Varusteleka - the strange surplus shop from Finland

I know they won't ship food items to a UK address any longer, not even a UK address that's still in the customs union! Haven't tried blades, but I did have an issue with a custom maker from overseas back in June when the courier returned my order to them. Not a Brexit issue but The Offensive...

    Proper wool blanket

I got a couple of the grey British ones from preppersshop.co.uk last week when they were on offer at 12.99 a piece but they appear to have only one left in stock. They have a few other types as well but they're dearer.

Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

Full disclosure: I can count the number of times in my adult life that my hair has been longer than a grade four on the fingers of one hand. I'm simply asking a question. In a situation where water supply is an issue, regardless of gender and stylistic concerns, would chopping one's locks not...

Warning, when ordering from Spain, and UPS woes.

You're warning people that if they import goods from abroad they may have to pay excise duty? Seems a tad superfluous, but hey.

    Pattern 58

I got two "systems" (medium bag, light bag, liner, stuff sacks) on regular, one long. Both were brand new.

    Pattern 58

Just back from a few nights away in it, just the medium bag and liner in a bivvy bag and it was fine. It just doesn't have the 'substance' of the '58.

Amazon Fire tablet/Firestick conflict only with BushcraftUK.

I'm afraid not, other than to say I use a Firestick, Fire tablet and BushcraftUK without issue. Sorry!
