    Shelf stable protein

I read it, assume whatever you want to, its if little consequence to me. If you don't know what you want for lunch, you're beyond my help.

I'd get a vacuum sealer and do up my own. You're not looking to keep stuff for too long.

French government expected to issue all citizens with survival manual

They're knocking out the same sort of booklet as the UK did in '04 after the Civil Contingencies Act. For any & all occurrences - Gardez 3 jours de nourriture et d'eau dans votre cuisine. Ayez à disposition une lampe de poche, une radio et des piles de rechange. Restez chez vous et attendez...

    Best bushcraft trousers?

I love real US M65s, particularly if you can get a set of the '50's vintage sidehook braces to hold them up! The winter liners make them extremely adaptable too. Downside is that they're difficult to dry if properly soaked, but I don't wade much.

    Bergen side pockets Olive green/DPM

If I'm permitted to advertise, there's a page on Facebook titled W.A.P Army Combat Camo - The owner usually has side pouches and is not at all difficult to pay. Not my site, but I've dealt with them a quite a few times and always been happy.

    Ration packs

I'd never go for freeze dried from any source if I had the choice, but I agree with you insofar as there is better out there than military rations. The appeal of ration packs, for me at least, was that they could be obtained for the price of a few pints for the chap whose Bedford they fell off...

    Ration packs

Steve1989MRE has a lot to answer for, he's probably single handedly responsible for something close to doubling the price of ex-military (and related) food items. I met a couple of US youngsters while I was traveling over Christmas, kids who could not be further away from any interest in...

    Wool Blanket

I have two of the old grey British army blankets, anyone who's ever made a bedroll will be familiar. They're thinner/lighter than most and it really does take two for anything other than summer. The price was right though.

Thanks everyone, A few options for me to check out. It's a peculiar fetish of mine, really inspired by being fascinated with the great kilt.

Wanted basket-hilt broadsword, dirk & sgian dhu

As you say this, it strikes me that I knows a stage armourer. Not sure if he does proper cutty things. But I'll find out.

Wanted basket-hilt broadsword, dirk & sgian dhu

I've asked about sgian dhu in the past and managed to find a nice blade. I'm currently looking for a basket-hilt broadsword, dirk & sgian dhu. Live blades, early Jacobite era or earlier. "Matching" would be nice but not essential. I can pay... A bit. I'd want change from the cost of a good...

    Ration packs

TBH I've used them on multiple occasions, going back years, for bulk ration buys reaching into the low thousands cost wise and they've been fine. They're not quick, but they get the job done in my experience.

    Storm Éowyn

It was very windy here in East Antrim, but frankly nothing that would make me consider changing my way of going. Everything closed, except our corner shop and local where much discussion about everything else being closed took place.

Anyone still owns / drives LADA?

There was a point in the late nineties where they started to attract money out of all proportion to their sensible value, even total scrappers. Most of those in the UK disappeared then. Dealers were buying them up and exporting them as parts to the CIS where there were still millions on the...

Heads up - Post office not sending sharps after 22nd April

I've had the year check in the past. But on this occasion the YL involved was totally deadpan about me not getting the goodies without ID. And, no word of a lie, I went out at lunchtime today to find a box containing a 15" sirupate khukuri sitting on the doormat. Different courier! :D

Heads up - Post office not sending sharps after 22nd April

Resurrected to say I was IDed today by a young lady delivering a kitchen gadget with a blade on behalf of Amazon. There was a little discussion, as I'm in my 50s and it shows, but she was or at least seemed quite willing to walk away and have the item returned if I didn't show her proof of age...
