I've now had a bit of time to get to know my M23 and so I offer this little review with my findings. I find myself using smaller knives quite a lot nowadays. When out in the woods, I still carry and utilise a 'standard' (c. 11cm blade) knife but the shorter, finer blades are easier to use and...

Great success! I have managed to post a little review - complete with pictures! - of the Peltonen M23 knife in the 'Cutting Tools' section. It turned out to be simplicity itself. Many thanks for your help and patience! Best wishes, Richard

Many thanks. I'll give it a whirl. The only problem I foresee is the fact that the photos are on my 'phone and not taken with a DSLR or equivalent. Still, I'll try and see what happens!

The M23 is an absolute gem. I have used it for a variety of bushcrafty tasks - carving a spoon, making a try stick and feather sticks - and it has performed faultlessly on each one. I was going to offer up a review with a few pictures but, at this stage, this little cutting tool goes with me...

    A Knife of Wrath

It's a superb trail, the Cape Wrath one. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. When I did it, the only times I used the knife I took - a Ben Orford Bushmuk - was when prepping wood and lighting fires in the two or three bothies I used along the way. I don't regret carrying it at all and I hope you...

    water bottles and water

I carry two 1 litre Finnish army bottles. If out overnight or on a multi-day venture, I also carry a Nalgene Kantene along with the usual water filtration/purification set-up.

Well, my M23 pikkusissi has just dropped onto my doormat. I ordered one in coyote brown from Lamnia - hats off to them for a very efficient service. The knife is very well made and is sent absolutely razor sharp out of the box. It comes with a ten year guarantee and with a variety of ways of...

I'm embarrassed to admit that I have ordered one so I'll let you know what it's like and whether it is worth the money!

What sort of price would you expect to pay? Their other knives seem fairly reasonable and the M23 is a little less for pretty much the same amount of work, though marginally less material, to produce it. I suppose it might reflect the design and manufacturing costs of producing a new knife...

They are now available from Lamnia, with a range of natty handle colours, generally subdued but there is an orange one for those fearful of leaving it on the woodland floor.
