Merry ChristmasGuest, we hope that you have a great day wherever you are, and we're looking forward to hearing of your adventures in the New Year!
Sounds similar to what I heard a couple of weekends ago. It was dark and late, and I was hammocking solo near Arnside in Cumbria. Bit of an atmospheric spot. Woken by this... er... shriek/ bark/ growl /constipated banshee/ gnu on heat about ten feet from my head. It carried on for a couple of...
Just a couple of weekends ago, heard - for the first time - an alarmed muntjack (or was it a Chinese Water Deer?) about five feet from my head at three o'clock in the morning while out soloing in my hammock. Thought a banshee was about to commit a crime against my person in a particularly...
A clarinet for me please. I'd love to learn it and not infuriate others in the process...
Or a sack each of salt and pepper.
Hm, tough call to choose between them though.
"the "public face" of people burning fires" - isn't that key to the issue you raise? That is, its the public perception that will effect the long-term prospects of bushcrafting rather more than the actual ecological impact?
So, how do others view our bushcrafty activities? A straw poll of my...

Quote: The silver socks reflect 95% of the bodys energy back to the...
Totally agree with "getting real food back into camping" - its what we call gourmet camping. Freshly picked chanterelle; stewed wild strawberry, blueberry and raspberry for breakfast (I'd post a piccie from our Swiss walk last year if I knew how), that sort of thing.
I suppose we try and do...
When it arrives, my new titanium mug will replace a blue plastic camping mug from the 70's which has begun to impart a rather plasticy flavour to my tea.
For me, when out and about the issue boils down to a simple equation:
Less weight (while maintaining functionality) = more enjoyment...
Cheers, Shewie
The offer's so good I've just ordered three (!) - one for my partner, one for her lad, and one for me.
Now the woods are beckoning and we're off to plant some raspberry canes and red and black currents. (I never said that and it wasn't me wot done it, honest to goodness...)
I have a Klepper Aerius II. The frame is from the '50's and the skin is a modern quatro: ex-services in olive and black.
Mainly use it for sea fishing when on holidays - West coast of Scotland, Anglesey, or South of England. English lakes occasionally.
Sometimes rig it with a main and...
