    Winterizing the home.

Nice idea! I’ve used plastic conduit too. I get that some people like to use the proper product though.

    Winterizing the home.

Install as low as viable to start with. The height you saw installed may have just been as low as is accessible for them. You want low so that the wind gets in and goes up, along the inside of the roof. If you’ve started high, it’s missed a load already. If you need more later, just do it...

How to plan a solar system

Just use your multimeter directly on the panels outputs. You do need to know the output, especially on second hand ones.

    Winterizing the home.

Why would you get a roofer in? If the loft is accessible, just do it yourself. Couple of quid per vent or add a few hundred quid more to pay someone else? If I’m paying someone to do the work, I check it. It would take as long to check the work as to just do it….

How to plan a solar system

I’m still not sorted on my home setup but I’ve just had 50kw system installed at work. It’ll be expanded to 60 soon and I’m also going to have another couple of arrays the same sort of size installed. None of it will end up going back to the grid!!

Selling old engineering tools - how to go about it?

Make sure you allow international sales on eBay. A lot of people are put off by the idea but I’ve sold loads of old tools for a high price that all ended up overseas - you just post it to the eBay depot who then post it on to the destination country.

    Compost

I have loads of compost bins on the go at any one time. I think it’s twelve or thirteen at the moment. I have lots because I have plenty of jobs to be doing so don’t bother turning them. Turning will speed things up but I get good success with just leaving it for longer. I would suggest a...

    Winterizing the home.

Just get felt lap vents to start with. You can achieve the same with wood wedges if you don’t want to buy the actual product. Wind hitting the side of the roof will go under the tiles and through the overlap of felt. Over time the layers of felt fuse together with the summer heat. The lap...

If she wants fast pitch and low pole count - Vaude Hogan. The pole is a cross, all elastic linked. No pole tube - elastic that wraps round the pole so peg out the outer, pole in the corners, wrap elastic. Done.

    Power Tool Battery Inverters

Aah, yes - 5v! It definitely depends on what is being powered as I can cope with that for most out and about stuff.

    Power Tool Battery Inverters

I suppose the only real benefit is that it’s an inverter rather than 12v. What are you wanting to run that needs 240v?

    Power Tool Battery Inverters

Eh? You can’t make infinite power. I think you would be better off with ‘normal’ power bank. A power tool battery is anything from 1.5ah to 5ah (probably bigger units). In the scheme of power banks, that’s not much really. My main power bank is 20000mah and is less bulky all round.
