Swopping over to natural wool bedding.

Great thing is, you can buy extra wool stuffing, or take it out, and adjust support as required, something you cannot do with any other pillow. Sometimes they seem to get realy flat, but they plump up realy easily. One thing I'd suggest is to get a spare casing, as you will want to wash the...

    Hand crafted things.

As promised, the photo of the mat, along with my new home made/plastic free brew kit. Ikea stove, sat on an old sandwich cake tin, tea caddy billy, tinder pouch ( for birch bark), small glass milk bottle, tea bag and sugar sachet tin, hand carved teaspoon and larger spoon for cooking, , enamel...

I certainly sleep a lot better. I'm cosier, and sweat less, don't need so much heating on in the bedroom, and can sleep with the window ajar, getting fresh air into the room , so I'd say it's a big win on all levels.

    Smokey hut half inner

That's a better option and more what I'm looking for, brilliant, thanks. I'll take a better look later, I'm on my way out to a book festival, and just realised im running late!

    Smokey hut half inner

Thank you, a good option and price. There are many options out there, and I was wondering what people had actualy used and found a good fit. I will bear this in mind though. The one problem with these options is they are an oblong inner in a round tent which means wasted space behind it which...

    Smokey hut half inner

When I have no idea what someone is talking about, I keep quiet and don't make snippy remarks to try to belittle them publicly . Had you addressed me rather than everyone except me, and asked me to explain better for you to understand, I would have done so with pleasure Have a nice weekend.

    Smokey hut half inner

Having acquired a smokey hut earlier this year, I'm now looking at getting a half inner for it. I don't want the one tigris one as it is all mesh, and I'm looking more for something that is at least half solid walls, basically to lessen the draught my delicate soul feels when sleeping on the...

Perennial ornamentals for the boggy land

I'd be planting native primrose, bluebell and snowdrops on the verges, outside the gate Also sowing some packets of native wildflowers would make for an attractive approach to the gate area. Wildflowers are very important for wildlife, especially nowadays. No maintainance needed and self...

uses for a very holy blanket

That's it! You can mend holes with it too, so tengu could have a delightful sashiko blanket and not have to cut it up.

    Hand crafted things.

Always fancied one of those waxed cotton and wool sit mats, but they are realy expensive,so the last couple of days, odd hours have resulted in a hand sewn one. Mary sent me a bit of waxed cotton a while back, so along with some nice green tweed given to me by another friend after she recovered...

uses for a very holy blanket

Make a patchwork lap quilt. Cut squares (4-6 inches) out of the good bits, and sew them together to make a lap quilt for watching TV, or cuddle round your shoulders when reading in bed. You could sacrifice a tatty blanket of another colour and patchwork alternate coloured squares. Back it with...

I don't think there is much between them on quality, though I think baavat is a tad more expensive, not by much tho. Woolroom have some realy nice throws, and I love the blankets, (just can't afford them or justify the price, even at black Friday prices.)

Swopping over to natural wool bedding.

Heads up for those early bought Xmas presents or treats. Woolroom have a black friday sale on until 02/12/24. I shall be ordering another pillow, and some extra pillow stuffing, as though I'm happy with mine, it needs a tad more stuffing for my liking. This is what I love about these pillows...

    Plastic free camping

I picked up a cotton single sheet a few days ago, and wondered if the fjalraven wax ..of which I have two blocks ive never used, would work as a suitable and reliable waterproofer with the idea of making a groundsheet, or even a sort of bivvy cover for the wool blanket. Anyone used this stuff...

    What did you buy today?

It's just a plug in . If you go online and type in maglite led conversion it will come up. Just make sure you get the right one for whatever torch you have. I have a 2×D cell. Like one of those old police torches. If I can manage to do the conversion, anyone can!

    What did you buy today?

Another old 2D cell maglite for £2. The bulb had gone, and the charity shop was about to dispose of as useless as" you can't get the bulbs anymore" I opened the bottom up and lo! The spare bulb was in place under the spring. I said nothing and offered two quid, which was accepted. Down to my...

    Outstanding Goals/experiences for 2024

I've done quite a bit towards my goals. I made the sinew cordage I'm halfway to a plastic free kit load out. Made my spoon, and spatular, Just the tarp and groundsheet to go, and actualy start on making the wool sleeping bag. I've got most of the elements. So the bag is a winter project, and...

    Pine martin release on dartmoor.

Well, here, at least, local landowners and many others have been consulted and management agreed. So I'd assume its the same elsewhere. I doubt they just let them go any old where without solid monitoring and agreement from landowners, etc. After all, round here, pheasant shooting is a major...

    Pine martin release on dartmoor.

I think they probably are deliberately keeping info low key atm to give them time to establish. I'm sure they don't want loads of noisy people, ( however well meaning,) tramping around the areas and possibly disturbing them. It's only been a few weeks, so still early days for any info on...
