FULL TANG KNIFE WITH 10 CM BLADE ?

That's very similar to a green river knife https://www.heinnie.com/john-nowill-green-river-knife I have no experience with it but this one might be good for your scouts on a budget https://www.heinnie.com/john-nowill-seamans-knife

    For the Skrama fans

Just having a look on Varustelekas site to see if they've added anything interesting and noticed this post https://www.facebook.com/varustelekaint/photos/a.1382625171914671/1382625711914617/?type=3 Showing some images of what may become their one handed skrama. It looks very interesting.

    Nightcap

Great bits of kit, and surprisingly warm for the size and thickness. I always pop one in my pack just in case. I also use one under my cycling helmet for the chilly spring/autumn commutes.

    Nightcap

I have central heating but I'm too cheap to put it on. I also hate sleeping in a warm bedroom, gives me a headache. I sleep hot but if it's really cold I use a wool slouchy hat. It's too big for me so it doesn't fit too tightly and get uncomfortable, and I can pull it down over my ears.

    Bush pot pathfinder

You can't go wrong with the standard stainless steel pathfinder bushpot. I much prefer it to the zebra pots. Just let the outside blacken up over the fire.

    Sunny Sussex Sunday wander

They're not the best but when they are free and abundant... I usually only pick the unopened ones and dry them, then just add them to stews and such. I managed to find another five ceps today too. I always take a weeks holiday in October to forage and enjoy the outdoors and I've lucked out...

    Sunny Sussex Sunday wander

The parasols have been great around my way this year and I've lucked out on the ceps too. I usually find one or two that are too far gone to pick but this year I've had a kilo! Parasols dry pretty well.

    Not British made anymore!

Thanks for this link, I was after an army jumper that wasn't wool mix. Just had a 1945 delivered and the label read made in England.

    Not British made anymore!

Nice that Snugpak clearly show which products are UK made. Ventile is now owned by a Swiss company. No idea where the fabric is made. Hilltrek are made in Scotland, and the Bison Bushcraft stuff is UK made, although neither company could be considered large.

    A Load of Old Billhooks

Nice film that. It's always a pleasure to see someone who has mastered his tools at work.

Looking for a rucksack, around 35L.

I've one of these. https://www.heinnie.com/5-11-havoc-30-backpack Only 30l but overbuilt so should take the weight. The belt is removable. To be honest it has too many extra pockets for me but it was a competition prize so I can't complain. I just use it for carrying my supermarket shopping...

    Old School Bushcraft Camp

What a great post. I've just about pulled together a trad camping kit. The only modern materials are the rubber soles on my boots (1970s Soviet officers jackboots which I'm breaking in at the moment). I've some time off in a fortnight so I'll hopefully get a couple of nights out. I'll try...

    Folding knife suggestions ?

) That is a shame. I looked at the pics and did think that the other blade might make it uncomfortable. ( And I hate red liners).

    Hot footing

Keep an eye out for Austrian army surplus kit. Decent quality and they are one of the few armies that still wear plain olive green. Also German army moleskin trousers are great. You'll not find them surplus anymore but they are still available new, and still made to the same specs (if you get...

Hawthorne berries - fruit leather! Tips please.

I've done it by mushing them through a sieve raw and letting the "jelly" set then cutting it into slices to dry. It's a pretty tedious process but tastes a little like licorice. Simmering it in a little water with some blackberries added frees up the pulp a bit better but it takes longer to...

    Folding knife suggestions ?

You'll not be disappointed. I generally carry one for most of my outdoorsy needs as it's a great little knife and not very "offensive" looking. And 90% of the time I'm out mooching or on overnighters I don't need a fixed blade. Their belt pouches are a good carry option too (with a bit of wet...
