Mask designs - one post for them all???

Looking at half the posts on facebook and the 3D printing forums most people seem to be treating masks as a fashion accessory. The acid you mention is probably hydrofluoric. Truly nasty stuff, I worked for a company making optical kit years ago, we used the fumes to cut the image into tank...

    Back garden birds.

My wife works in Bexley, they have loads there, Bexley Brewery use them on the logo. Havent yet seen them this far into Kent. Trying to get a good photo of a grey wagtail, keep seeing one on the mill stream near here, but never when I have a camera.

    Back garden birds.

Our garden is full of sparrows and starlins at the moment, they like to use the feeders and then have a wash in the pond or bird bath. But on one memorable occasion this turned up to inspect the pond. We live on a small council estate in a small village, and about 400m from a stream with the...

Mask designs - one post for them all???

Most masks do come in a variety of sizes, but you will always get somebody that needs something different. If your properly face fit tested it only covers one model and size, you cant jump to another mask from the same manufacturer, let alone a different manufacturer. The more you wear it the...

    Hilltrek masks

They are meant to protect other people from you, not the other way around. They can also help stop the wearer from touching their face, so that might help a bit. Diffeent masks for different tasks. The DIY and surgical style ones are primarily there to stop you transmitting to other people, so...

Wishing we could go back to the good ol days.

I have just wandered back to these forums after a couple of years, its still pleasantly familiar, with some truly great content and discussion. With the lockdown easing you can now wander off in to the woods and camp out (England only), or even drive there. On a personal note this year so far...

    Lightweight footwear for the hills

Big fan of Salomon as well, found them to fit me better than Brasher or Asolo. My ones are fairly old, on of the mid height ones with Vibram soles and goretex lined. All down to what fits ya really.

Celestron C70 Mini Mak eye piece replacement?

Hi, if you want to try some kit I am in Kent (near Tonbridge) and have a range of astronomy and optical kit. 1.25" is a standard astronomy eyepiece fit, so you can try an range of eyepieces. A Baeder zoom might be an option but is £££, another cheaper option is a starguider zoom (search ebay)...

    Weird weather !

Looks like Northampton has been clobbered today with flash flooding. I am in Kent and had a fantastic thunderstorm last night, manged to bag quiet a few photos as it went on for a couple of hours. Tonight its pretty clear, even had the telescope out and grabbed some images of Jupiter.

CB will out range PMR 446, and is now license free in the UK. Just had a look and you can get set up for £75 per vehicle, just don't get a magmount if your using a landrover ;) The radios and the frequency allocation has changed over the last few years, and new radios are advertised as being...

    Installing a woodstove in Scotland?

Interesting read. My parents have stuck with an old Parkray they picked up 2nd hand in the early 80s, they were being stripped out of council houses at the time. Its got a large back boiler and will happily run 8+ radiators, along with providing hot water. Its a multifuel stove and they get some...

    First bushcraft knife

Thanks for the quick reply. His dad isn't particularly practical so probably wont have any sharpening kit, or oil. Any pointers for a field sharpening stone, and is rapeseed oil ok to protect the blade.

    First bushcraft knife

Have been asked by a work colleague to suggest a starter bushcraft knife for his son (late teens). First thoughts are a Mora, but there seems to be a lot more models around now than a few years ago, also carbon or stainless steel? I was going to suggest the robust pro carbon. Cheers Jon
